According to Gizmochina , the agreement between HMD Global and Nokia will expire in 2025, so the Finnish company will be forced to make two choices. The first is to renew the agreement, the second is to stop using the Nokia brand and switch to another brand. In the end, HMD decided not to renew and chose the second option by choosing its own brand for future smartphones.

Now, the company’s first smartphone has surfaced in leaked images, giving us a better look at the design and what to expect. As per the leaked renders, the first smartphone to carry the HMD Global branding appears to be a budget offering. It features a basic design language with a rectangular camera module on the back, housing two sensors and an LED flash. The back also features the HMD branding in the center. The device appears to have a slightly flat frame with the power and volume rocker on the right side and the SIM tray on the left side.
On the front, the HMD Global-branded phone features a centered punch-hole display. The renders show it coming in a black color option with a matte finish. The report does not reveal any additional details about the smartphone.
Last November, two HMD Global smartphones were spotted on the IMEI database with model numbers N159V and TA-1585. One of them could be the device seen in the leaked renders, but their key specifications remain a mystery for now. Previous rumors have suggested that HMD is planning to launch its first branded smartphone in April, so we may see more details about the product in the coming months.
