On February 11, Thanh Nien news source reported that the Thu Duc City Police (HCMC) professional teams coordinated with Tang Nhon Phu B Ward Police to investigate and clarify the case where the family reported that the girl had lost contact and gone missing for many days.
Camera at the boarding house recorded the image of Ms. Thong after work and returning to her boarding room in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City.
The girl was identified as Vi Thi Thong (25 years old, from Dong Nai). Thong works at Coats Phong Phu Company Limited (Tang Nhon Phu B Ward) and lives at 103/18 Quang Trung (Ward 5, Tang Nhon Phu B Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) with her boyfriend, Tuan. He returned to his hometown in Phu Yen about a month ago.
On February 11, speaking with Thanh Nien , Ms. Thong's family said that she had lost contact with her family and had been missing for 4 days.
Specifically, on February 8, after finishing her shift at the company, Ms. Thong texted her relatives to inform them that she was returning to her hometown in Cam My District (Dong Nai) to celebrate Tet. However, her parents, Mr. Vi Van Quan and Ms. Hoang Thi Nam, waited for their daughter to return home, even though the distance was only about 100 km. Ms. Thong then lost contact with her family.
On the morning of February 9 (New Year's Eve), via mobile phone, Mr. Tuan informed Ms. Thong's family that he had asked someone to go to the rented room to look for her and discovered that the door was locked from the outside, so he broke the lock to enter the room to look for her but still could not find Ms. Thong.
On the afternoon of the 30th of Tet, Ms. Thong's family also went to her rented room in Thu Duc City. The room was not disturbed, the motorbike was still parked inside, on the motorbike there were many bags of things to prepare to go home. However, Ms. Thong's usual backpack, phone, and car keys were not in the room.
