On June 24, the Provincial People's Committee held a regular meeting in June to listen to the report on the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of the year, discuss and decide on key solutions for socio-economic development in the last 6 months of 2024 and some other important contents. GRDP growth rate ranks 3rd in the country
The report on the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of the year, key tasks for the last 6 months of 2024 presented by the Chief of the Provincial People's Committee Office Nguyen Trong Trang at the meeting stated: In the first 6 months of 2024, although there were still many difficulties and challenges; however, under the timely and close leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, the efforts of all levels, sectors, the consensus of the business community and all classes of people, the province's socio-economic situation had many bright spots, continuing to change positively in most areas. Notably, the GRDP growth rate is estimated at 11.5%, ranking first in the North Central region and third in the country.

Agricultural, forestry and fishery production maintained stable growth momentum; the growth rate in the first 6 months of 2024 is estimated at 3.4%. In particular, agricultural production continued to have a good harvest; the total cultivated area for the 2024 Winter-Spring crop reached 237.7 thousand hectares, food output was estimated at 893 thousand tons, up 0.4% over the same period; rice yield alone was estimated at 67.5 quintals/ha, the highest ever. Forestry continued to develop in a sustainable direction, forest security was ensured. The whole province planted 6,100 hectares of concentrated forests, up 4.8% over the same period.
Forms of agricultural production organization continue to be developed. Up to now, the whole province has 1,386 enterprises, 768 cooperatives and 2 cooperative unions, 995 farms, and 1,266 agricultural cooperatives.

The National Target Program on New Rural Area Construction (NTM) continues to receive attention; in the first 6 months of the year, there were 4 more NTM communes, 13 advanced NTM communes and 9 model NTM communes. Up to now, the whole province has 13 district-level units meeting the standards and completing the task of building NTM; 363/465 communes, 717 mountainous villages meeting NTM standards; 97 communes meeting advanced NTM standards; 23 communes, 489 villages meeting model NTM standards.
In the industrial sector, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, with the motto of "persisting and seizing opportunities", industrial production units and establishments in the province have proactively restructured and optimized production processes to flexibly adapt to market fluctuations. Along with that, a number of new industrial establishments have come into operation in the province, so industrial production has maintained a good growth momentum; the growth rate in the first 6 months of the year is estimated at 21.1%; the index of industrial production (IIP) is estimated to increase by 15.8% over the same period.

Domestic trade activities were vibrant, the supply of goods was abundant; prices of goods were stable, there was no hoarding or price fever. Total retail sales of goods and service revenue in the first 6 months of the year were estimated at VND94,392 billion, up 12.9% over the same period. Tourism activities flourished right from the first months of the year. According to statistics, the total number of tourists in the first 6 months was estimated at 9,780.6 thousand arrivals, up 16.1% over the same period, equal to 70.9% of the plan (of which international visitors were estimated at 261 thousand arrivals, up 21.3%); total tourism revenue was estimated at VND19,848.5 billion, up 30.2% over the same period, equal to 61.3% of the plan.
Also according to the report, in the first 6 months of 2024, the state budget revenue is estimated at VND 27,348 billion, up 29.6% over the same period, equal to 76.9% of the estimate. Of which, domestic revenue is estimated at VND 16,673 billion, up 36.9% over the same period, equal to 75.7% of the estimate; revenue from import and export activities is estimated at VND 10,675 billion, up 19.7%, equal to 78.8% of the estimate.

Total social investment capital mobilization in the area in the first 6 months of the year is estimated at 65,885 billion VND, up 3.2% over the same period, equal to 48.8% of the plan. The whole province has attracted 59 direct investment projects (including 12 FDI projects), with a total registered investment capital of 10,905 billion VND and 177.5 million USD; an increase of 78.8% in the number of projects and 25.3% in registered capital over the same period. This is a positive signal showing investors' confidence in the growth prospects, stability and attractiveness of the investment environment of the province.
Along with the economic indicators, the quality of cultural and social activities continues to improve; social security policies are fully and promptly implemented, and people's lives are improved. Through review and statistics, Thanh Hoa is the leading province in the country in terms of the percentage of contestants winning prizes and ranked 4th in the country in terms of the number of contestants winning first prizes in the national high school competition for excellent students in the 2023-2024 school year. Also in this school year, Thanh Hoa students won 4 medals of various types at regional and international Olympic competitions. The campaign to support the construction of houses for poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties in the province has been enthusiastically responded to and highly appreciated by Party committees, authorities at all levels, businesses, and people. Political security, social order and safety are ensured, creating a favorable environment for economic development.
