The carbon neutral status of TH Milk Joint Stock Company and Nui Tien Pure Water Company Limited was achieved on December 31, 2023, in compliance with PAS 2060:2014 for the first period from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023, and committed to maintaining carbon neutral status for the next period from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2028.
Since 2018, TH Group has pioneered the first step of greenhouse gas inventory, followed by strong green transformation actions.
Two companies of TH Group have conducted emission inventory calculations according to the Protocol Standard on Corporate Greenhouse Gas Inventories - the most widely used accounting standard; the carbon neutral data of the two companies was confirmed to be in accordance with the requirements of PAS 2060:2014 - a technical standard developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI), a recognized, standardized and transparent approach worldwide.
Accordingly, the total amount of emissions neutralized at TH Milk Joint Stock Company is 26,670.14 tons of CO2 ; at Nui Tien Pure Water Limited Company is 11,631.68 tons of CO2 .
To achieve carbon neutrality, TH Milk Joint Stock Company and Nui Tien Pure Water Limited Company have promoted activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through effective solutions to reduce energy use, switch to green energy, improve equipment and technology, and effectively manage waste.

For example, at Nui Tien Pure Water Company Limited, solutions and initiatives are implemented synchronously. The company focuses on plastic reduction solutions at Nui Tien Pure Water, Herbal and Fruit Factory such as: eliminating shrink wrap on bottle caps, reducing the weight of plastic in each water bottle, reducing the thickness of plastic labels, and reducing the amount of glue for straws. Thanks to this chain of solutions, the company has reduced about 600 tons of plastic per year.
Along with that, the company deploys many solutions in the energy field such as: Controlling building management systems, controlling lighting systems, insulating pipes, saving electricity in offices and factories, and applying flexible production processes.
For example, during peak hours, the factory limits the use of large energy-consuming equipment to optimize energy efficiency. Nui Tien Factory is also actively promoting cooperation with partners to continue developing the existing solar power system, contributing to reducing emissions of nearly 1,000 tons of CO2 per year.
Mr. Arghya Mandal, General Director of TH Milk Joint Stock Company, representing the two units, said: “The first two units of TH Group to achieve carbon neutrality are both large-scale production units, so achieving carbon neutrality is a huge effort and we have a serious and methodical roadmap. We focus on internal activities in our efforts to achieve carbon neutrality. The remaining emissions are offset by our participation in supporting and accompanying projects that contribute to reducing emissions and increasing energy efficiency certified according to international standards. Emission reduction efforts are carefully measured using rigorous calculation methods and verified by third parties to ensure effective emission reduction. All of these offset programs are fully compliant with the provisions of PAS 2060:2014. We are committed to maintaining permanent carbon neutrality, in which the PAS 2060 standard will be maintained until 31/12/2028, and then neutralization according to ISO 14068”.
At the event, Mr. Wouter Melis van Ravenhorst, Managing Director of Control Union Vietnam, awarded carbon neutral certificates to the two companies.
Mr. Wouter Melis van Ravenhorst said: "Currently, only a few companies in Vietnam have been certified as carbon neutral, two of which belong to TH Group. These are also the first two companies that our organization Control Union has awarded the certification to. This achievement is proof that sustainable development can be implemented and achieved when businesses prioritize long-term environmental strategies."
Mr. Wouter Melis van Ravenhorst shared that during the verification and inspection process, Control Union was very impressed by the innovative steps that TH Group has taken. TH's factories all have a high level of automation, integrate advanced technologies for efficient energy use, have transparent data management systems and many initiatives to reduce resource consumption. TH Group's efforts in waste and wastewater treatment, use of solar energy and conversion to biomass fuel demonstrate a proactive approach to sustainable development.
Vietnam has set an ambitious target of achieving Net Zero by 2050, and while there is currently no mandatory emissions regulation for businesses, companies like TH Group are showing pioneering voluntary action. By achieving carbon neutrality, they are setting an example and becoming a good example for others to learn from.
TH Group has now committed to remaining carbon neutral by 2028 – an ambitious and encouraging commitment. Maintaining this carbon neutral status will require continuous investment and adaptation, but with the achievements already made, we are confident that TH Group will remain at the forefront of sustainability efforts.
