President Luong Cuong wrote in the condolence book: "Deeply mourning comrade Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, former President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, an outstanding leader, an outstanding son of the Lao people, a loyal revolutionary soldier who sacrificed his whole life for the independence, freedom, happiness of the people and the prosperous development of Laos."

The content of the condolence book written by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reads: "The passing of comrade Khamtay Siphandone is a great loss for the Lao Party, State and people. The Vietnamese leaders and people have lost a great friend, a close comrade who always strived for the revolutionary cause of the two brotherly countries Laos and Vietnam and the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos. Comrade Khamtay Siphandone was a senior leader, an outstanding and steadfast revolutionary who devoted his whole life to the Lao revolutionary cause."
