Báo Giao thôngBáo Giao thông29/09/2024

According to voters in An Giang province, the road surface on National Highway N1 from the old Huu Nghi bridge intersection (Tinh Bien town) to Ha Tien is currently very narrow. Meanwhile, the traffic volume is getting heavier, especially during peak days, causing local congestion.

From there, voters recommended paying attention to investing in expanding this route to ensure traffic safety and facilitate the circulation of goods between provinces in the region.

According to the Ministry of Transport, according to the Road Network Planning for the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision to 2050, National Highway N1 through An Giang province is about 53 km long, level III - IV scale, 2 - 4 lanes.

Currently, only the section from Km 138+914 - Km 162+200 (border of An Giang and Kien Giang provinces) with a length of about 23.28km has been invested according to the planning. The remaining sections utilize local roads for exploitation.

Recently, the Ministry of Transport has directed the Vietnam Road Administration to regularly maintain and invest in repairing National Highway N1 with a total budget of about VND 28.74 billion for 2023 and 2024, and an estimated VND 9.49 billion for 2025.

At the same time, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the Ministry of Transport said that it has balanced 1,671 billion VND to invest in the construction of the route connecting National Highway 91 and the Long Xuyen city bypass; submitted to the Government and the National Assembly for approval of the investment policy for the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway and the Prime Minister assigned the People's Committee of An Giang province as the competent authority to implement component project 1, with a total investment of about 13,799 billion VND.

"The Ministry of Transport agrees with the proposal of voters of An Giang province on the necessity of investing, upgrading and expanding National Highway N1 in general and the section from Huu Nghi Bridge to Ha Tien, to meet the transportation and economic development needs of An Giang province in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general.

However, due to resource difficulties, it is not possible to allocate capital to invest in the route in the period of 2021 - 2025.

The Ministry of Transport acknowledges the voters' recommendations. In the process of developing a medium-term public investment plan for the 2026-2030 period, based on the ability to balance resources and the principles of capital allocation according to regulations, the Ministry of Transport will report to competent authorities for consideration to soon invest in this route," the Ministry of Transport added.
