On March 16, Ho Chi Minh City Police continued to investigate the cause of the incident in which a female Mercedes driver crashed into 10 motorbikes in Thu Duc.

Through investigation, at more than 5 pm on the same day, female driver NTTN (41 years old, residing in Thu Duc City) drove a Mercedes car on Vo Nguyen Giap Street, from Thu Duc City to Dong Nai Province. When the car reached Thu Duc intersection, it slowed down due to a red light, but suddenly rushed forward and hit a series of motorbikes waiting in front.
The car continued across the intersection, dragging a motorbike under it before stopping. According to witnesses, the female driver then got out of the car and burst into tears.
The collision caused the couple DTNL (40 years old, construction workers) to be thrown onto the hood, injuring their spines.
Several others were also injured, including a 28-year-old woman who was seriously injured and was transferred to Cho Ray Hospital for emergency treatment.
Initially, the authorities determined that the female driver N. drove the car in the wrong lane (lane for motorbikes, no cars) and caused the accident. However, the driver had a class B2 driver's license.
In addition, the female driver showed signs of psychological abnormalities, suspected to be influenced by love and family matters.
Through alcohol and drug testing, the results of the quantitative alcohol meter showed that female driver N. had alcohol in her body.
Authorities are continuing to take blood to test for alcohol levels and investigate the cause.
