Initially, authorities determined that the female Mercedes driver was driving in the wrong lane, and the alcohol test result was more than 0.4 mg/liter of breath.
On the evening of March 16, Ho Chi Minh City Police took a statement from Ms. NTTN (41 years old, residing in Thu Duc City), the female Mercedes driver who caused an accident at the Thu Duc intersection (Hiep Phu ward, Thu Duc City) on the same afternoon.
According to the source, on the afternoon of March 16, when taking Ms. N. back to work, the police checked her alcohol concentration using a measuring device, with a result of more than 0.4 mg/liter of breath.
Through investigation of the scene, the police determined that Ms. N. was driving the car in the wrong lane, specifically in the lane reserved for two-wheeled vehicles, where cars are prohibited.
When working with the authorities, Ms. N. stated that she had pressed the brake pedal but mistakenly pressed the accelerator pedal.
As reported, at 5:00 p.m. on March 16, Ms. N. was driving a Mercedes on Song Hanh Street, heading from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai Bridge. When reaching Thu Duc intersection, Ms. N.'s car crashed into 10 motorbikes stopped at a red light in front.
The accident injured 5 people, including a female student HTTT (28 years old, from Dong Nai) who was seriously injured and unconscious when she and her motorbike were caught under the car.
After causing the accident, Ms. N. got out of the car and burst into tears.
Ho Chi Minh City police are investigating and preparing a case to handle the driver according to regulations.
