TPO - With a history of more than 300 years, Tuong Binh Hiep lacquer craft village (Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong) is the oldest traditional craft still existing here. Binh Duong province is implementing a conservation project, turning this place into an ancient town tourist area.

From the beginning of Ho Van Cong Street, where it intersects with National Highway 13, there is a signpost leading to Tuong Binh Hiep traditional craft village (Tuong Binh Hiep Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province).

About 500m in, the locality arranges a pair of dragon jars with unique characteristics of the traditional craft village of Tuong Binh Hiep.

According to statistics from the Department of Industry and Trade of Binh Duong province, there are currently 32 craft villages with 9 traditional occupations in the province. Of which, Tuong Binh Hiep lacquer craft village has a history of more than 300 years.

In recent years, due to many reasons, such as: competition from modern industrial products, lack of human resources... many traditional craft villages in Binh Duong are facing the risk of fading away and being lost.

Tuong Binh Hiep lacquer craft village is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.

To preserve and promote the traditional cultural values ​​of the craft village, Binh Duong province has implemented the Project "Preserving and developing Tuong Binh Hiep Lacquer Craft Village, combining tourism in Thu Dau Mot city and neighboring areas".

Accordingly, the project will support through the building of collective brands, capital support for lacquer production facilities to ensure the environment, combined with village tours. In the future, Tuong Binh Hiep lacquer craft village will become an ancient town tourist destination.

According to the project, Tuong Binh Hiep lacquer village will keep the original state of the ancient structures to preserve the cultural history associated with the locality.

The craft village will be built with full infrastructure including wastewater treatment system, concentrated production area, product display area, ancestral temple, village gate, vocational training, and tourism services.
