Russian Ka-52 “killer crocodile” attacks Ukrainian base in Kupyansk

Russia is stepping up attacks on Ukraine's military-industrial complex, while Ukraine's energy grid has been severely damaged by previous Russian precision airstrikes.

Russian air defenses are also repelling a major Ukrainian drone attack. On the night of April 5 alone, Russian forces destroyed at least 53 Ukrainian drones. Forty-four of them were shot down in the Rostov region, where they targeted the airport in the Morozov district. No significant damage was caused by the attack.

On the front line, Russian troops are pushing back the Ukrainian Armed Forces in several directions.

In the Artyomovsk region, the Russian 98th Airborne Division broke through the forest and penetrated Ukrainian defenses on the outskirts of Chasov Yar. The highland town is a difficult fortress to attack. This would be a key victory for the Russian army to gain a foothold in the hills on the eastern outskirts.

At the same time, Russian troops advanced on the hills southeast of the town. From Ivanovskoe, Russian troops passed through the forest to the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal.

Fierce fighting is raging west of Avdeevka. Here, Russian troops are rapidly expanding their control of the area near Umanskoe, attacking the last Ukrainian-held streets in Semenovka. These two villages are the main strongholds of Ukrainian defense on the west bank of the Durnaya River. Judging by the pace of the Russian advance, Ukrainian forces may not be able to hold them off for more than two weeks and will be forced to retreat miles to the west.

Ukrainian forces are currently attempting to conduct flank attacks and counterattacks in Pervomaiskoe but to no avail.

In the Kupyansk region, Russia has also carried out military operations with the active participation of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

A few hours ago, Sputnik posted a video released by the Russian Ministry of Defense of a helicopter attack by the Russian Aerospace Forces on Ukrainian military positions.

“A strike group of the Russian Aerospace Forces consisting of Ka-52 ‘killer crocodile’ helicopters, Mi-35M transport and combat helicopters, Mi-8 multipurpose helicopters targeted a Ukrainian position and troop concentration in the Kupyansk area in the zone of special military operations,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

According to Sputnik, these helicopters carried out an attack with unguided C-8 air-to-air missiles and safely returned to the take-off site.
