Russian Lancet precision strike destroys Ukraine's IRIS-T SLM
On July 14, SF reported that the Russian army had just attacked two German-made IRIS-T SLM medium-range air defense systems being used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
A video of the attack on the IRIS-T system was released to the media on July 13. The footage shows a Russian Lancet suicide drone accurately hitting one of the system’s launchers, causing it to burst into flames. However, it is still unclear where the IRIS-T SLM medium-range air defense system was deployed.

On July 14, the Russian Defense Ministry also released a video showing an Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile attacking and destroying another IRIS-T system. The attack took place near the Volosskoye settlement in the Dnepropetrovsk region.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the system's TRML-4D fire control radar and one of the launchers were destroyed after a precision airstrike by the Russian military.
After the start of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, Germany promised to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with 12 IRIS-T SLM systems and 12 IRIS-T SLS systems. The IRIS-T SLM has a range of 40km and an altitude of 20km, while the range and altitude of the IRIS-T SLS are limited to 12km.
Not all of the systems promised by Germany were delivered to Ukraine, and most of those that were delivered to Ukraine were destroyed or damaged by the Russian military.
In recent months, the Russian military has stepped up attacks on the air defense systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Russian precision strikes have destroyed dozens of radars and air defense systems, including those of Western manufacture.

During the attack on a drone control center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine located under the Antonovsky Bridge, the Russian military used an ODAB-1500 thermobaric bomb with a unified guidance and correction module. This powerful bomb weighing up to 1,500 kg created a huge explosion that completely destroyed the control center and the electronic warfare system of the Ukrainian forces.
The Antonovsky Bridge and the surrounding area have long been a strategic location for both sides. Placing a drone control center under the bridge underscores its importance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
