Drone footage of the attack was reportedly filmed east of Volchansk earlier this week as two groups of Kiev’s assault troops moved to attack Russian positions, the North Wind Telegram channel reported on Saturday.
Volchansk is a small town in the Kharkiv region, located near the border with Russia. It is about 60 km from the capital of Kharkiv region.
TOS-1A is a short-range multiple rocket launcher system, mounted on a T-72 chassis and classified by Russia as a "heavy flamethrower".
The TOS-1A Solntsepyok thermobaric rocket launcher is designed to destroy enemy trenches and bunkers as well as neutralize enemy manpower in open terrain. The TOS-1A uses 220mm thermobaric shells, creating a huge explosion when the shell hits the target. Compared to other similar systems, the TOS-1A Solntsepyok has a shorter range. However, because it is a thermobaric weapon and has the ability to launch multiple rounds, the TOS-1A Solntsepyok has great mobility.

The Russian Defense Ministry has yet to authenticate the video but reported at its daily press briefing on Saturday that the Northern Group of Forces attacked Ukrainian forces in several settlements along the line of contact in the Kharkiv region.
The offensive is part of a broader campaign to push Ukrainian troops away from the Russian border to stop Kiev's systematic artillery and drone attacks on the Belgorod region.

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Moscow intends to create a “buffer zone” between Russian cities and the Ukrainian army to prevent such attacks. In May, he stated that the Kharkiv offensive was not aimed at capturing the city but was a necessary response to Kiev’s continued shelling of Russian civilians.
