On the morning of May 24, the ceremony to announce the sponsor and launch the national 7-a-side football championship VPL-S4 took place in Hanoi.
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan (black vest), President of Vietnam Football Federation, presented a certificate of merit to Vietfootball, recognizing the contribution of the 7-a-side playground to Vietnamese football.
2023 especially marks the 10-year journey of building and developing the 7-a-side football format (VPL) in Vietnam with the first tournament of Hanoi Premier League (HPL), organized by Vietfootball Joint Stock Company.
VPL is known as the leading and prestigious 7-a-side football tournament in Vietnam and has contributed to promoting this format over the past 10 years.
The 7-a-side football format has long been considered a unique and interesting platform for Vietnamese football lovers, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their passion, talent and skills for football.
During this time, 7-a-side football has grown into a national tournament. In 2022, Vietnam will host the Southeast Asian 7-a-side football tournament with the participation of 3 representatives from Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The tournament created a positive effect not only in Vietnam but also aroused passion for a new form of football with countries in the region.
At the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation shared: "The first 10 years were an extremely difficult journey for VietFootball to achieve today.
We witness the national 7-a-side football tournament attracting the attention of audiences to the stadium to cheer and follow on social media platforms.
VFF highly appreciates VietFootball's support over the past 10 years, especially in building a stronger and more sustainable 7-a-side football system, contributing to promoting the development of grassroots football in Vietnam."
This year's VPL-S4 season will take place in 3 regions: Northern region HPL-S10, Southern region SPL-S5 in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces and Western region, Central region and Central Highlands DPL-S2 in Dak Lak.
It is expected that the 8 strongest teams representing the regions will compete in the national finals taking place in August.
