On the morning of May 24th, the announcement ceremony for the sponsor and the launch of the VPL-S4 National 7-a-side Football Championship took place in Hanoi .
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan (wearing a black vest), President of the Vietnam Football Federation, presents a certificate of commendation to Vietfootball, recognizing the contribution of 7-a-side football to Vietnamese football.
2023 marked a significant milestone: the 10th anniversary of the development of the 7-a-side football (VPL) format in Vietnam, with the inaugural Hanoi Premier League (HPL) tournament, organized by Vietfootball Joint Stock Company.
VPL, known as Vietnam's leading and prestigious 7-a-side football league, has contributed to promoting and popularizing this format over the past 10 years.
The 7-a-side football format has long been considered a unique and exciting platform for Vietnamese football fans, giving them the opportunity to showcase their passion, talent, and skills in the sport.
During this period, 7-a-side football (seven-a-side football) has risen to become a national-level tournament. In 2022, Vietnam hosted the Southeast Asian 7-a-side Football Championship, with the participation of three representatives from Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
The tournament had a positive impact not only in Vietnam but also sparked a passion for a new football format among countries in the region.
At the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Football Federation, shared: "The first 10 years were an extremely difficult and arduous journey for VietFootball to achieve what it has today."
We are witnessing the national 7-a-side football tournament attracting the attention of spectators who come to the stadium to cheer and follow the matches on social media platforms.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) highly appreciates VietFootball's partnership over the past 10 years, especially in building a stronger and more sustainable 7-a-side football system, contributing to the development of grassroots football in Vietnam.”
This year's VPL-S4 season will take place in 3 regions: the Northern region (HPL-S10), the Southern region (SPL-S5) in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces, and the Western, Central and Central Highlands region (DPL-S2) in Dak Lak .
Eight of the strongest teams, representing different regions, are expected to compete in the national finals in August.
