Never give up on your passion.

Luong Viet Hai is affectionately called “Tall Hai” by his teammates and amateur football fans because he has an ideal height of 1.79 m. In addition to his height, Viet Hai is also admired for his enthusiasm and perseverance in pursuing his passion despite having to go through many difficult and arduous journeys.

He recalled: “I once missed the opportunity to participate in the selection for Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Academy in 2006 because I was late. After that time, I promised myself that I would not give up but would seriously set new goals to go further. From playing football instinctively with my brothers and friends in my hometown, I began to explore and practice more professional exercises, learn more techniques and tactics from famous players. In 2013, I officially passed the entrance exam to Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports, majoring in football, opening a new path in my journey of self-development.”

After graduating from university, Viet Hai returned to Quang Tri, started to get acquainted with the "amateur" fields and experienced many different jobs to make a living. During this time, he participated in the FC Crazy football team in Dong Ha city and participated in many major tournaments in the province such as the Quang Tri Newspaper Football Cup Truong Son, Dong Ha League Football Tournament...

Trained in football and with a strong competitive spirit, Viet Hai showed his class on the amateur and amateur football fields in his hometown and gradually became a familiar name known to many coaches. He plays well in many different positions, in which his forte is playing as a winger and central midfielder with sharp playing style, fast movement speed and good ball control.

In 2018, Viet Hai decided to leave his hometown to go to the South to start a career. Although he was far away from home with many other ambitions and the burden of making a living, his passion for football never stopped burning in his heart. Viet Hai also hoped to find new playgrounds and new environments to continue to have the opportunity to shine on football fields in the South - where the amateur football movement is very developed, including many famous players from Quang Tri...

Shining on the "amateur field" of the South

At the end of July 2024, we met Viet Hai again when he and his teammates played excellently, winning the 2024 Dong Nai Province Youth Football Championship for Workers of Enterprises. The image of the young midfielder with beautiful goals affirmed his maturity after a long time living, working and playing football in amateur and amateur tournaments in the South.

In particular, Viet Hai also shined in the colors of football teams with the "identity" of Quang Tri people and brought home many high achievements at Quang Tri football tournaments in the South, national football tournaments... Notably, he won the Silver Medal (HCB) of VSC-S3 in the Central region in 2022 with the Tu Lua Cua Tung FC team, the Bronze Medal of the VSC-S3 National Finals in 2022 in Hanoi with the Tu Lua Cua Tung FC team; Silver Medal of the National Football Championship - Pu Mat Medicine Cup 2022 with the Quang Tri FC team.

Mr. Le Trong Luan, coach of Quang Tri FC, said: “I knew Hai Cao a few years ago and worked with Hai when he participated in the Quang Tri Association Football Tournament in the South in 2020. In 2022, after receiving the plan to organize the National Compatriot Football Championship - Pu Mat Medicine Cup 2022, I started looking for Quang Tri players who were working and living in the South and invited Hai to compete with Quang Tri FC. Currently, along with veteran players such as Capdervila, Hoang Cao, Thinh Messi...., Viet Hai is an important factor of the Quang Tri compatriot football team. We hope Hai will continue to shine on many amateur fields in the South and nationwide”.

After more than 6 years away from home, Viet Hai experienced many difficult and hard days in a foreign land. He worked as a warehouse worker, taught swimming after hours, taught soccer, and refereed amateur sports tournaments to earn extra income. However, he always maintained his passion for soccer no matter the circumstances.

Viet Hai confided: “After a while in the South, I gradually approached big and small tournaments and quit other jobs to focus on playing amateur tournaments. Football gives me many opportunities to meet my brothers, teammates, and fans from all over the country. Therefore, in any match, I always keep in mind that I have to play my best, be responsible in every move, so as not to disappoint those who believe in and love me.”

A vivid proof of the dedication and responsibility of this talented midfielder is the achievements that he and his teammates have won in countless high-quality amateur and amateur football tournaments in the Southern region. Typically, they won the championship: Dong Nai Province Futsal Club Football Tournament 2021, Dong Nai Amateur Football League 2 Hong Sport Cup 2021, An Giang Television S7 Football Tournament 2023, Mansion Sports Cup Football Tournament 2024...

Luong Viet Hai is currently an administrative officer at Sacombank Dong Nai Branch. At the office, he is assigned to be in charge of initiating, maintaining and developing the sports movement, especially football. For Viet Hai, no matter what environment or position he is in, he always devotes his enthusiasm and dedication to the common achievement.

At his workplace, he and his colleagues competed and achieved many outstanding achievements such as winning the championships: S5 Tavico Men's Football in 2023, Dong Nai Province Enterprise Youth Football in 2024... In addition, he also participated in teaching and spreading the passion for football to children at a number of community football training centers in the South.

“This September, I will return to my hometown to participate in the 2024 Quang Tri Province 7-a-side Football Tournament in the Trieu Phong District Football Team. In the coming time, I have a personal training plan to achieve bigger goals, including the goal of playing in more of the biggest amateur tournaments in the country to exchange, compete and gain more experience.

Besides, I will, together with my fellow countrymen in Quang Tri FC in particular and other Quang Tri football teams far from home in general, devote our best efforts to developing amateur football and the movement of our homeland more and more."
