Reappointment of 2 Deputy Chiefs of the General Staff of the People's Army

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed decisions to reappoint and extend the terms of office for a number of officials of the Ministry of National Defense.

Specifically, in Decision No. 654, the Prime Minister reappointed Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan to hold the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army until the end of his military service age. This decision takes effect from September 15.

Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan was born in 1966, his hometown is Phu Tho town, Phu Tho province. He grew up from the grassroots and held the following positions: Division Commander of Division 316 (Military Region 2); Commander of Vinh Phuc Provincial Military Command; Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of Military Region 2; Commander of Military Region 2.

In September 2019, Mr. Phung Si Tan was appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

In Decision No. 653, the Prime Minister decided to extend the term of office until the end of military service age for Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Binh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army. The decision takes effect from September 15.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Binh was born in 1965, his hometown is Hanoi. He was the Chief of Operations, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy, and Commander of Naval Region 1 Command.

In September 2019, Mr. Nguyen Trong Binh was appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

The Prime Minister also signed decisions to extend the terms of office for two other personnel of the Ministry of National Defense.

Specifically, in Decision No. 652, the Prime Minister decided to extend the term of office of Political Commissar of Military Region 5 for Lieutenant General Trinh Dinh Thach until the end of his military service age.

In Decision No. 651, the Prime Minister agreed to extend the term of office of Deputy Commander of the Border Guard for Major General Le Van Phuc until the end of his military service age.
