The Ministry of Industry and Trade's information portal cited statistics showing that currently, in Binh Duong province, there are nearly 2,300 manufacturing and business enterprises in the fields related to the supporting industry, including 442 textile and garment enterprises, 172 leather and footwear enterprises, 593 wood processing enterprises and 710 mechanical enterprises... Some of the high-tech development projects and supporting industries with huge investments include: The project of a factory producing tires and automobile airbags with an investment capital of up to 1 billion USD, on an area of 42 hectares of Kolon Group (Korea); the project of producing synthetic fibers of Polytex Far Eastern Company Limited (Vietnam) with a registered investment capital of more than 1 billion USD; the project of a factory specializing in producing sterile packaging from paper, plastic and aluminum for food packaging of Tetra Park Binh Duong Joint Stock Company (Singapore), with a registered investment capital of 124 million USD...
Along with that, many previously operating supporting industrial projects have continued to increase investment capital and expand production. Recently, Panasonic Electric Works Co., Ltd. officially put into operation a wiring device factory in VSIP 2 Industrial Park. This new factory helps increase the company's capacity by 1.8 times compared to the current level, reaching nearly 150 million devices/year.
In addition, Tetra Pak Joint Stock Company has announced that it will invest an additional 97 million Euros in its beverage carton manufacturing plant in Binh Duong province, bringing the total investment since 2019 to more than 217 million Euros. Previously, Polytex Far Eastern Company Limited (Vietnam) also increased its capital twice, bringing the company's current total investment capital to more than 1.37 billion USD.
According to the People's Committee of Binh Duong province, of the total of more than 40.6 billion USD of FDI capital invested in Binh Duong, more than 74% of capital is concentrated in the processing and manufacturing industry. The industrial production index in the first quarter of 2024 is estimated to increase by 3.87% over the same period in 2023. Of which, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 3.56%.
However, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha - Deputy Director of Binh Duong Department of Industry and Trade - assessed that although the supporting industry in the province has improved significantly, it still cannot meet the demand for raw materials for domestic production in both quantity and quality.
In recent times, the locality has established industries producing raw materials for the textile, footwear, mechanical, electrical and electronic industries. However, Binh Duong province still does not have an industrial park specializing in supporting industries. In the near future, the mechanical supporting industrial park will help Binh Duong continue to become an attractive destination for many international corporations to choose to invest and develop the production of supporting industry products.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha added that supporting industry enterprises in the province are being facilitated to develop to gradually participate deeply in the global value chain. In the coming time, Binh Duong will continue to prioritize the development of high value-added industries, gradually increase the rate of localization of products, and soon complete the planning of raw material and supporting industry areas. Accordingly, the development of supporting industry will create linkages, specialization, and soon form a system of suppliers of raw materials and manufacturers of components with high technology content...
The province will also invest in developing 4 supporting industrial clusters with an area of 75 hectares each, including building 1 supporting industrial cluster specializing in mechanics. Binh Duong has also planned an additional mechanical industrial park to contribute to promoting the development of Binh Duong's supporting industry.
