Ho Chi Minh City - Thousands of people and tourists flocked to Nguyen Hue Flower Street, District 1, to visit and enjoy the flowers on the first day of opening.
On the evening of December 28 (February 7), Nguyen Hue Flower Street for the Year of the Dragon 2024 opened, attracting thousands of people and tourists to visit. About 700 meters long, the 21st flower street has the theme of Spring of Love, Tet Reunion , with the highlight being the pair of dragon mascots at the beginning of Nguyen Hue Street, near the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
First appearing in the Year of the Monkey 2004, after 20 years, Nguyen Hue Flower Street has become a cultural feature of Saigon Tet and an indispensable activity for Ho Chi Minh City residents every time Tet comes.
The flower street was packed with people taking pictures and videos of the dragon mascot moving and making a "growling" sound.
Each dragon is about 120 meters long, setting a record for the size of the mascots that have appeared on the flower street over the past 21 years. The dragons' bodies are colorful, intertwined, and more than 10 meters high, creating a beautifully decorated ceiling.
Ms. Phuong Lan's family took a souvenir photo with the dragon model at the beginning of the flower street. "Taking advantage of the Tet holiday, my whole family went to the flower street. This year, the flower street is more beautiful than every year," Ms. Lan said.
A gold-plated Bodhi tree is displayed on the flower street, attracting visitors to take pictures and admire. According to the organizers, this year's flower street has 99 types of flowers with more than 90,000 flower baskets. The flowers are decorated with three main colors: red, orange, yellow and more than 70% of the materials used in paving the flower street are environmentally friendly bamboo.
Thanh My, Nhat Hao, Phuong Thy, Thanh Hien, a group of friends from Canada and the US, walked together on the spring flower street. "It's been 15 years since I've been back to Vietnam to celebrate Tet, so I'm both happy and moved. Seeing everyone happy on the flower street makes me happy too," said Thanh My (in white shirt).
Foreign tourists both visit and record the scenery of the Tet flower street.
At the end of the flower street, where the Great Thang Long Monument is located, is also packed with visitors. Here, the dragon mascot is made of metal covered with LED lights.
The little girl was carried on her father's shoulders in the crowded crowd of visitors.
The flower street will serve the spring travel and sightseeing needs of city residents and tourists from now until 9:00 p.m. on February 14 (the 5th day of Tet).
