From early morning on March 18, the roads leading to Quan The Am Pagoda at the special national relic Ngu Hanh Son (Da Nang City) were packed with people attending the Bodhisattva Quan The Am ceremony - the official ceremony of the Quan The Am - Ngu Hanh Son festival.
Taking place from March 16 to 19 (February 17 to 20 of the lunar calendar), this year's Quan The Am festival is the third time Da Nang has organized it on a city scale with many unique activities, bearing the spiritual and cultural imprint of Buddhism.
The act of dressing up as Bodhisattvas is the part that people and Buddhists look forward to during the Quan The Am festival.

As usual, the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara's birthday ceremony is always a ritual that people look forward to with the appearance of venerable monks, monks... and especially the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva costume performance.
At the ceremony, after the ceremonies and rituals from the local government representatives and the representatives of the Executive Committee of the Buddhist Sangha of Da Nang City, the delegates released balloons together for peace. This was followed by the procession of the statue and the cosplay of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara and other Bodhisattvas.
The young men and women who play the roles of Avalokiteshvara, other Bodhisattvas, and the attendants, fairies, and four heavenly kings are all performed by the Buddhist family of Avalokiteshvara Pagoda. These Buddhists are carefully selected and have to practice for many months before the festival takes place.

Starting from the cave entrance on Kim Son mountain, the procession of the statue moved to the main hall of Quan The Am pagoda amid the worship of tens of thousands of Buddhists, locals and tourists.
Chairman of Ngu Hanh Son District People's Committee Nguyen Hoa emphasized that from a purely Buddhist festival, to honor the compassion and forgiveness of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, over time, Ngu Hanh Son Avalokitesvara festival has become one of the traditional folk festivals imbued with the identity of Buddhist beliefs.
The special national monument Ngu Hanh Son welcomes tens of thousands of visitors these days.

After the official ceremony this morning (March 18), within the framework of the festival, there will be a traditional boat racing festival, a Vietnamese vegetarian culinary space, an artistic kite performance, an art program, a lotus lantern meditation procession, etc. The closing ceremony will take place on March 19 and there will be running and walking activities for peace in 2025.
