Provincial Party Secretary Tran Quoc Cuong introduced to the delegation the potential for socio-economic development, the unique features of culture, cuisine and people of Dien Bien; information about the results of exchange and cooperation activities between Dien Bien and Japan. Accordingly, 20 years ago, cherry trees originating from Japan were brought to Dien Bien by overseas Vietnamese to plant, and to date, more than 100,000 cherry blossom trees have been planted, many of which have bloomed brilliantly. Therefore, in recent years, Dien Bien province has organized cherry blossom festivals, attracting a large number of cherry blossom lovers, lovers of Japanese culture and Japanese people who love Dien Bien to attend the festival. In particular, Dien Bien province has opened Japanese language classes and attracted a large number of interested students to register to study. Comrade Tran Quoc Cuong hopes that in the coming time, cultural exchange activities between the two sides will be expanded; Strengthen exchanges, contribute to increasing mutual understanding between the people of the two localities, and contribute to affirming the strong friendship between Vietnam and Japan.

The representative of the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association thanked the leaders of Dien Bien province for their warm welcome and emphasized that the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association wishes to contribute to strengthening the friendly exchange and cooperation activities between the two countries. In particular, there are currently over 550,000 Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Japan.
