The film Village in the City revolves around the hard life of the couple Hieu (Duy Hung) - Hoai (Tran Van) in the city. Hieu has not found a stable job yet, so all living expenses in the family depend on Hoai's worker's salary.
Despite all the difficulties, the young couple's life still seems to encounter many problems and misunderstandings. In particular, it is impossible not to mention the appearance of Thoan (Linh Chi) - a friend who works in the same sewing workshop as Hoai. Although they are close friends, in recent episodes, the two often have conflicts.
Thoan unexpectedly overheard Hoai reminding her husband not to lend her friend money to send back home to treat her father's illness because Hoai's family currently did not have much money. Feeling offended, Thoan quickly paid Hoai and his wife back and vented her anger on her friend, ignoring any explanations.
From this conflict, Thoan continuously rejected Hoai's kindness and did not want to follow his best friend's wishes even though he was doing wrong and could negatively affect the whole chain.
Later, when he was transferred to another department, Thoan thought that Hoai was the one who was tattle-tale, so he went to Hoai's house to cause trouble. Not only that, Thoan also implicitly accused Hoai of having an affair with the team leader in front of Hieu.
Thoan's actions made the audience feel very indignant: "What kind of friend, just by hearing his voice, you can tell he's deceitful and exploitative. He turned his back so quickly", "The behavior of a lowly person", "This friend is just taking advantage"...
Contacting Linh Chi (born in 2000, from Thai Nguyen), she happily shared with Dan Tri reporter about her role: "Actually, I personally find Thoan's character very pitiful because her family is in difficulty, she has to earn money to treat her father's illness, and has a gambling stepmother. She is harsh because her self-esteem is touched plus her circumstances are like that.
When I accepted the role, I thought it would be hated, and when I read the comments, I understood the thoughts and feelings of the audience watching the film. I accepted the mixed opinions happily and positively. I think that for a new actor, being remembered by the audience is already a joy."
Before the role of Thoan, Linh Chi was often seen as a gentle, unassuming character. This character in the movie Village in the City has a completely different personality from the actress in real life. Moreover, working with a professional crew for the first time, she also encountered certain difficulties.
"For this role, I read the script every day and write down what I think. When I get to the filming location, the director will analyze and clarify the character's psychology and actions in each scene. Although it was the first time the two sisters worked together, I always received help and care from Ms. Tran Van," she said.
As her first role in a TV series, Linh Chi always tries to fully complete her character. Before that, she participated in films and sitcoms such as Rookie Diary, Three Soldiers , Family War...
