In recent years, Doan Quoc Dam has always been one of the faces that "cover" VTV's films. There was a time when he appeared regularly in every time slot of the week. However, in each role, Doan Quoc Dam "breathed" in a distinct, somewhat unique color.
Therefore, when returning with part 2 of the movie Pho trong lang with the name Lang trong pho , Doan Quoc Dam made the audience curious to see what new thing he will do for the character. No longer with the bald appearance like in part 1, with Lang trong pho , Doan Quoc Dam decided to change his voice, making the audience impressed.
Accordingly, his character Men in part 2 will speak with a hoarse voice, walk with a limp and be more philosophical, no longer drunk and "cut his face and cry" like in the previous part. Sharing about this change, the actor said that he himself asked the director to try speaking with an unusual voice, to create a highlight for the character.
This idea was borrowed by Doan Quoc Dam from a neighbor, because of drinking too much alcohol, his voice became hoarse. After discussing and getting approval from director Mai Hien, the actor created a whole story to explain the change in his voice.
"Men was shocked when his wife had a miscarriage, so he turned to alcohol to drown his sorrows. After a near-death illness, his voice changed like that," Doan Quoc Dam said.
However, to produce a distinctive husky voice, Doan Quoc Dam had to put in a lot of effort. One thing that made it difficult for him was that every time his emotions rose, his voice would return to normal. This made the actor often have to re-shoot scenes many times to reveal his inner thoughts or perform long lines because it was difficult to maintain the character's voice.
Besides Doan Quoc Dam, the film Lang Trong Pho will continue to have the participation of actors who are familiar to the audience from part 1 such as Le Quyen (as Thuong), Duy Hung (as Hieu), Tran Van (as Hoai)... However, the film is built with completely different content and many new characters.
The film begins with the story of Men and Hieu's fish pond being confiscated by the commune. While Men continues to stay in the countryside, Hieu decides to go to the city with Hoai, who is now working as a worker at a garment factory. However, due to his lack of education and his quick temper, Hieu struggles and finds it difficult to live in the city.
Not only did Hieu have difficulty finding a job, he also clashed with Hung, the line manager where Hoai worked. Then Hieu accidentally met Nhung, Hung's younger sister, which made Hoai jealous, leading to tense misunderstandings. Meanwhile, in the countryside, Men also had problems when Thuong discovered she had a terminal illness.
In addition to the story of Men and Hieu's family, Lang Trong Pho also brings to life a boarding house - a place where people have to leave their hometowns to make a living in the city. Each person has their own circumstances and stories, but they all have a common dream: to change their lives for the better for themselves and their families.
Village in the City will air on VTV1 from Monday to Friday, starting from July 31.
