Nowadays, many infectious diseases appear and spread widely such as pink eye, chickenpox, diphtheria, hand, foot and mouth disease...
In Ho Chi Minh City, acute conjunctivitis (pink eye) is spreading rapidly. In just the past month, the Examination Department of Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital alone has received nearly 500 cases, and hospitals in the city have recorded a 10% increase in the number of pink eye cases.
According to statistics from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, up to now, the city has 23,873 cases of pink eye in all ages. When children are diagnosed with pink eye, families need to keep them home from school and isolate them at home to prevent the spread of the disease. In addition, parents should note that when there are signs such as children being afraid of light, fussy, rapidly developing swelling, cloudy eyes, etc., they need to take their children to the hospital for timely examination and treatment.

* On September 15, Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Tam, Head of the Examination Department (Can Tho Eye and Maxillofacial Hospital) said that in recent days, especially from September 13 to 15, the hospital recorded many cases of pink eye. Accordingly, each day there are about 50 cases out of 250 cases coming to the clinic for pink eye. Of these, most are children studying in primary school.
At the hospital, there have been some cases where parents brought their children to see a doctor for pink eye the day before, and the next day the parents brought their children to see a doctor for pink eye because it was contagious. Currently, the Can Tho City health sector and schools are working together to increase propaganda to help students prevent the disease.
* On September 15, the Dak Lak Provincial Center for Disease Control said that the hand, foot and mouth disease epidemic is currently spreading rapidly in the area. As of September 12, the province has recorded nearly 1,200 cases of children with hand, foot and mouth disease with 21 outbreaks, including 3 deaths.
In addition, according to Dak Lak Eye Hospital, the pink eye epidemic has also been complicated since the beginning of September. The number of people coming to medical facilities for pink eye treatment has increased sharply. Of which, Dak Lak Eye Hospital alone receives and treats 300 cases per day.
In Gia Lai, according to the Gia Lai Provincial Center for Disease Control, from August 1 to September 11, 11 medical facilities in the area recorded more than 4,644 cases of pink eye, mainly students. The reason for the rapid spread of the disease is that at this time, students are returning to school. In the coming time, the disease is at risk of continuing to increase if there are no preventive measures. This unit recommends that people with signs of pink eye should go to a medical facility for examination, consultation and treatment. Patients need to be isolated, not arbitrarily buy eye drops, and not apply betel leaves or mulberries to the eyes.
