Previously, the Kien Giang Provincial Police Working Group suspected that two vehicles carrying illegal goods were moving on 3/2 Street, Vinh Thanh Ward, Rach Gia City, so they conducted an inspection.
Through inspection, the authorities discovered 2 trucks driven by D.HQ (48 years old), transporting 480kg of shrimp injected with impurities and D.VT (36 years old, residing in An Minh Bac commune, U Minh Thuong district, Kien Giang province) transporting 650kg of shrimp injected with impurities.
The drivers said they were only transporting the goods for hire, not knowing that the shrimp were injected with impurities. Someone (unknown origin) hired them to transport the shrimp from An Minh district to Ha Tien city. On the way, they were discovered and arrested by the police.
After using samples and testing, the Kien Giang Provincial Police discovered that the shrimp were injected with impurities... They made a record to confiscate all the shrimp with impurities and handed them over to the Provincial Market Management Department for handling according to regulations.
According to medical experts, long-term consumption of shrimp injected with impurities as food poses a potential risk of harming the digestive system. Mild cases can cause food poisoning, digestive disorders, and more serious cases can cause accumulation of toxins and dirt in the body, leading to chronic diseases.
It is estimated that after injecting impurities, the shrimp weight will increase by 10-15%. With the above quantity of shrimp, the owner has done everything to increase profits. Besides losing money, consumers also use shrimp that has potential health risks.
