Surprised by the average income of Vietnamese workers

The General Statistics Office has just released a report on the socio-economic situation in the first quarter of 2024 with quite optimistic statistics on workers' income.

The average income of workers in the first quarter of 2024 is 7.6 million VND/month, an increase of 301,000 VND compared to the fourth quarter of 2023 and an increase of 549,000 VND compared to the same period in 2023.

According to the General Statistics Office, the labor and employment situation in the first quarter of 2024 has returned to the normal development trend as before the Covid-19 pandemic. The living conditions of the population in the first quarter of this year have improved. The labor force aged 15 and over nationwide in the first quarter of 2024 is estimated at 52.4 million people, down 137,400 people compared to the previous quarter and up 175,800 people compared to the same period last year. The rate of trained workers with degrees and certificates in the first quarter of 2024 is 27.8%. The number of employed workers in the first quarter of 2024 is estimated at 51.3 million people, down 127,000 people compared to the previous quarter and up 174,100 people compared to the same period last year. The unemployment rate among working-age people in the first quarter of 2024 was 2.03% (1.20% in urban areas and 2.58% in rural areas); the unemployment rate among working-age people in the first quarter of 2024 was 2.24% (2.64% in urban areas and 1.99% in rural areas); the unemployment rate among young people (aged 15-24) in the first quarter of 2024 was 7.99%.
