In the first 11 months of 2024, the industrial production index is estimated to increase by 8.4% over the same period last year, in which Phu Tho leads the country in growth rate.
According to socio-economic data released by the General Statistics Office on the morning of December 6, the industrial production index (IIP) in November 2024 is estimated to increase by 2.3% over the previous month and by 8.9% over the same period last year.
Of which, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 11.2%; the electricity production and distribution industry increased by 5.5%; the water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment industry increased by 6.7%; and the mining industry alone decreased by 9.8%.
In the first 11 months of 2024, IIP is estimated to increase by 8.4% over the same period last year (same period in 2023 increased by 0.9%).
Of which, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 9.7% (in the same period in 2023, it increased by 1.0%), contributing 8.5 percentage points to the overall growth; the electricity production and distribution industry increased by 10.2%, contributing 0.9 percentage points; the water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment industry increased by 9.6%, contributing 0.2 percentage points; the mining industry decreased by 7.3%, reducing 1.2 percentage points to the overall growth.
On the contrary, the IIP index of some industries increased slightly or decreased, such as crude oil and natural gas exploitation decreased by 12.2%; hard coal and lignite mining decreased by 5.3%; production of other non-metallic mineral products increased by 0.6%; beverage production increased by 0.8%; production of other means of transport increased by 2.7%.
Regarding the industrial production situation of localities across the country in the first 11 months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, the report of the General Statistics Office recorded that 60 localities had an increased production index and 3 localities had a decreased production index.
Some localities have high production index of processing and manufacturing industry in 11 months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, including: Phu Tho increased by 42.1%; Lai Chau increased by 39.9%; Bac Giang increased by 28.3%; Quang Nam increased by 20.7%; Thanh Hoa increased by 19.3%.
Localities with high production index of electricity production and distribution industry: Khanh Hoa increased by 148.5%; Dien Bien increased by 51.4%; Cao Bang increased by 49.8%; Tra Vinh increased by 46.5%; Lai Chau increased by 39.6%; Son La increased by 36.4%.
Localities with high production index of mining industry: Cao Bang increased by 27.0%; Thanh Hoa increased by 13.6%; Quang Nam increased by 11.2%.
On the contrary, some localities had a low increase or decrease in the production index of the processing and manufacturing industry in the first 11 months of 2024 compared to the same period last year: Dak Nong increased by 3.1%; Quang Tri increased by 3%; Ha Tinh decreased by 4.8%; Gia Lai decreased by 1.1%; Quang Ngai decreased by 0.9%.
Localities with low or decreasing electricity production and distribution indexes: Quang Tri increased by 3%; Bac Lieu increased by 2.2%; Lang Son decreased by 14.8%; Quang Ngai decreased by 5.8%; Gia Lai decreased by 4.8%; Lam Dong decreased by 3.9%.

According to the report of the General Statistics Office, in the 11 months of 2024, some key industrial products increased sharply compared to the same period last year, including: automobiles increased by 22.4%; steel bars and angle steel increased by 21.7%; natural fiber woven fabrics increased by 16%; gasoline increased by 15.9%; diameter increased by 14.8%; rolled steel increased by 14.1%; NPK mixed fertilizer increased by 11.9%; powdered milk increased by 11.5%; processed seafood increased by 11%; electricity production increased by 10%; urea fertilizer increased by 9%.
On the contrary, some products decreased compared to the same period last year: Gaseous natural gas decreased by 17.8%; liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) decreased by 14%; crude oil decreased by 6%; coal (clean coal) decreased by 5.3%; mobile phones decreased by 4.2%; beer decreased by 2.1%; aluminum decreased by 1.2%.
Regarding the number of employees working in industrial enterprises, the report shows that as of November 1, 2024, it increased by 0.7% compared to the same period last month and increased by 4.4% compared to the same period last year.
Of which, labor in the state-owned enterprise sector increased by 0.1% and decreased by 0.1%; non-state enterprises increased by 0.7% and increased by 2.7%; foreign-invested enterprises increased by 0.8% and increased by 5.3%.
By industry, the number of employees working in mining enterprises remained unchanged compared to the same period last month and decreased by 1.1% compared to the same period last year; the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 0.8% and increased by 4.8%; the electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning production and distribution industry remained unchanged and decreased by 0.4%; the water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment industry increased by 0.2% and increased by 1.1%.
