The Kien Giang Border Guard working group inspected and recorded a fishing boat carrying about 50,000 liters of DO oil of unknown origin.
At 7:40 p.m. on July 30, ship BP 20.19.01 of the Kien Giang Border Guard received a report from the Border Guard Station at An Thoi port that there was a vehicle suspected of illegally transporting oil at sea from Cambodia to Vietnam.
After reporting to the Kien Giang Border Guard Command for advice, the BP 20.19.01 ship coordinated with the An Thoi Port Border Guard Station working group to organize mobile patrols and ambushes at sea to intercept and arrest. At around 11 p.m. the same day, the working group stopped the ship for inspection.
At the time of inspection, the ship KG 93262TS was carrying about 50,000 liters of DO oil, with 1 captain and 3 crew members on board. Captain Ngo Thanh Tam (born in 1964), residing in Vinh Thanh Van ward, Rach Gia city (Kien Giang) could not present documents, invoices, or vouchers proving the origin of the oil.
The working group brought people, vehicles and all evidence to Vinh Dam port for further investigation and handling.
