Military History Museum exhibits 200 new works on the Armed Forces

(Dan Tri) - On the morning of November 15, the Vietnam Military History Museum (Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi) opened a national fine arts exhibition on the theme of the Armed Forces - Revolutionary War with more than 200 excellent works.

The event is an activity towards the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).

The theme "Armed Forces - Revolutionary War" is a source of inspiration for many generations of painters and sculptors inside and outside the army, thereby truly becoming a sharp weapon on the ideological front, contributing to encouraging and motivating the army and people to achieve victory in the cause of national liberation struggle, building and defending the Fatherland today.

Colonel Le Vu Huy, Director of the Vietnam Military History Museum, shared: "This exhibition can be said to be very special, this is the first exhibition held at a new location, when the public nationwide, especially the public in the capital, is very interested. This will help the exhibition spread more widely". "Artists, painters, and sculptors are also encouraged, increasing their creativity in the topics they have participated in over the past 5 years", Colonel Le Vu Huy added.

The exhibition introduces to the public 200 representative paintings, graphics, and sculptures by 193 painters and sculptors created in the period 2019-2024. The works reflect the tradition of fighting to defend the country, through two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism of the Vietnamese people, praising the spirit of patriotism, readiness to fight and sacrifice to protect the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Fatherland.

The Organizing Committee received 644 works from 407 authors from all over the country (an increase of 150 works compared to the period 2014-2019). On the morning of November 15, many visitors came to visit and admire the works on display here.

Visitors admire the sculpture Memories of the Truong Son Road by artist Hoang Van Tung. The author built the idea through memoirs, museum artifacts, documentary photos, and documentaries of soldiers, journalists, and artists of the resistance war, especially through the stories of the author's father - a man who served in the army for 9 years, worked as a transport driver on the Truong Son Road and later became a teacher who contributed to training Truong Son drivers.

The Key work by Colonel Hero of the People's Armed Forces Le Duy Ung is considered the most typical work of the exhibition on the theme of the Armed Forces in revolutionary war in the period 2019-2024.

Painter Le Xuan Quang (87 years old, with over 60 years of painting experience) assessed that the works on display on the theme of armed forces this time were selected relatively carefully, with fairly even quality.

"Recalling what I experienced during the resistance war against the US to save the country, the image of people wearing straw hats to school, work or fight made me create this work. Through that, I want the next generation to understand more clearly the history of my homeland and people," Mr. Hoai (82 years old) shared about the work Hanoi in the time of straw hats, which was started at the end of 2023 and took more than 4 months to complete.

The works introduced at the exhibition will continue to be evaluated, selected, and proposed by the Council for the Fine Arts Award on the topic of the Armed Forces - Revolutionary War for 5 years (2021-2025) of the Ministry of National Defense for consideration of the Literature, Art, and Journalism Award on the topic of the Armed Forces - Revolutionary War for 5 years (2014-2019) of the Ministry of National Defense.
