Waves 5 - 7m high
On the morning of October 25, after entering the East Sea, storm No. 6 continued to move westward; traveling about 10km per hour. The strongest wind near the storm's center was recorded at level 9-10, gusting to level 12.
According to the hydrometeorological agency, at 4:00 a.m. on October 26, the center of the storm was located at about 17.7 degrees North latitude, 115.9 degrees East longitude; in the eastern sea of the North East Sea, 490km east of Hoang Sa archipelago.
Due to the influence of storm No. 6, on October 25, the eastern part of the North East Sea began to have strong winds of level 7-8, near the storm's eye level 9-10, gusting to level 12; waves 5-7m high, near the storm's eye 7-9m.
Proactively responding to risks at sea, in recent days, the Command of Civil Defense - Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue (Border Guard) has actively deployed announcements, counting, and safety instructions for vehicles and boats.
Statistics as of the morning of October 25 show that the border guards have notified, counted, and instructed 67,212 vehicles/307,822 people to know the storm's developments and direction so that they can proactively move around and escape the dangerous area. Currently, there are no vehicles in the dangerous area.
24/7 on-call organization
At the meeting on response to storm No. 6 on the morning of October 25, a representative of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) said that the sea dyke and river dyke systems in coastal provinces from Quang Ninh to Binh Thuan still have 72 key weak dyke points. This is an issue that localities need to pay special attention to in case storm No. 6 continues to move further inland.
In the spirit of proactive response, on October 24, 2024, the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch No. 110/CD-TTg directing proactive response to storm No. 6. Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also issued Official Dispatches No. 7966/CD-BNN-DD and No. 7930/CD-BNN-DD to the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Binh Thuan on response to storm TRAMI.
Based on the direction of the Central Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Binh Thuan have proactively deployed response measures to storm TRAMI and strong winds, big waves, and thunderstorms at sea. To date, 22 coastal provinces and cities have issued dispatches and documents to deploy response measures.
Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 6, Deputy Director of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Vu Xuan Thanh requested coastal provinces and cities to continue implementing documents of the Central Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on proactive response to the storm. At the same time, organize 24/7 on-duty, regularly report to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for proactive, timely and effective response instructions.
According to the website of the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) , at least 26 people died and more than 163,000 people had to leave their homes in the Philippines due to the impact of storm TRAMI (storm No. 6), which made landfall on the main island of Luzon on October 24.
