Thach That District announced the Decision to register Tay Phuong Pagoda Association as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach That district Nguyen Manh Hong said that Thach That is an ancient land, a countryside with a long-standing historical and cultural tradition, with the cultural identities of the Doai region. With a history of more than 600 years of formation and development, Thach That district currently has more than 200 historical and cultural relics, including the special national relic of Tay Phuong Pagoda. According to scientists, Tay Phuong Pagoda is the only pagoda in Vietnam that still preserves and maintains a system of Buddha statues, masterpieces of ancient Vietnamese sculpture.

Tay Phuong Pagoda Festival is a traditional cultural beauty, a religious activity of great significance in the spiritual life of Thach That people and visitors, Buddhists from all over. Organizing the Tay Phuong Pagoda Festival with many rich and diverse activities is an opportunity to promote the image of the land, people and unique cultural heritage values ​​of Thach That.

Chairman of the District People's Committee Nguyen Manh Hong emphasized that Tay Phuong Pagoda Festival was included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage, which has extremely important significance in the spiritual life of the people of Thach That and visitors from all over the world; it has great historical, cultural, scientific and educational values; it also has traditional values, connecting a large number of people in the region, creating a strong vitality of the community, continuing the fine traditions of the cultural identity of Thach That district.

To preserve, maintain and promote the heritage values ​​of Tay Phuong Pagoda Festival, the Chairman of Thach That District People's Committee requested agencies and units, according to their functions and tasks, to continue to do a good job of propagating the significance of the special national relic Tay Phuong Pagoda; actively propagating and promoting tourism activities with many specific and effective solutions. Continue to implement investment projects to restore, embellish and plan the surrounding area of ​​Tay Phuong Pagoda relic, gradually meeting the requirements of serving the people and tourists. The Department of Culture, Science and Information will coordinate with Thach Xa, Quang Trung communes and clubs to complete the dossier to propose the recognition of Thach Xa, Chang Son and Binh Phu water puppetry as a national intangible cultural heritage in the coming time.

In particular, during the festival days, the festival organizing committee and the People's Committees of communes and towns need to do a good job of managing and protecting relics and artifacts, preventing damage to the landscape of the relics, ensuring security and order, environmental sanitation, and safety for tourists.
