Based on the survey of the current status of the industry, soil and climate advantages, the investor coordinated with the Center for Application of Science and Technology and Protection of Plants and Livestock of Ky Anh district to support more than 1 billion VND for technical training for households; build a factory on an area of 300m2 to grow 15,000 bags of oyster mushrooms and 2,000 bags of lingzhi mushrooms/model at 2 households in Ky Phong and Ky Bac communes (Ky Anh district).

According to Ms. Bui Thi Le, project manager, previously, Mr. Phan Huy Tuan's household (Ky Phong commune) and Ms. Bui Thi Anh's household in Ky Bac commune mainly relied on rice production and short-term crop cultivation on fertile soil, with income only enough to cover basic household expenses. After being selected to participate in the project, the households invested in factories and grew oyster mushrooms and lingzhi mushrooms according to the process guided by the District Center for Science and Technology Application and Plant and Animal Protection.

After more than 1 year of “hands-on training”, households have mastered the techniques from packaging spawn, inoculating, adjusting temperature, caring for, harvesting, and preserving products. In terms of efficiency, oyster mushrooms yield an average of 8-8.4 tons of fresh mushrooms/household, with a revenue of about 160 million VND/household/crop; lingzhi mushrooms yield 65kg, with a revenue of about 60 million VND/household/crop.

Excitedly introducing the batch of lingzhi mushrooms that are about to be harvested, Ms. Bui Thi Anh (Ky Bac commune) said: "Oyster mushrooms are not as expensive as lingzhi mushrooms, but they are harvested continuously, so the profit is sustainable. With the average wholesale price of oyster mushrooms at 20,000 VND/kg, I earn about 50 million VND/crop lasting 2 months. Lingzhi mushrooms are sold at 900 - 1 million VND/kg, after deducting costs, the profit is about 33 - 38 million VND/crop lasting 3.5 months."

With positive results from pilot models, expanding mushroom production in Ky Anh is completely feasible and can bring sustainable economic value to people.

According to the Department of Science and Technology of Ha Tinh, in the near future, the specialized sector will summarize and evaluate the effectiveness of the project to create a learning point, share experiences, and transfer techniques to help other households in the area replicate the model.

Most importantly, the production process will be environmentally friendly, all bags of mushrooms after harvest will be used to process into organic fertilizer for cultivation, contributing to the development of organic and sustainable agriculture.
