Welcoming the delegation of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) to visit and work, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu affirmed that in recent times, Vietnam has been one of the active members of PATA, making important contributions to the common development of PATA. At the same time, he expressed his desire to listen to PATA's sharing of the latest research and information on tourism in the Asia-Pacific region, future tourism plans and projects as well as cooperation activities between the two sides in the coming time.

With sincere thanks for the welcome from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Ms. Weihan Xu - Senior Manager of Partnership Development, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) highly appreciated the development potential as well as the positive results that Vietnam tourism has achieved in the past time. At the same time, she said that Vietnam is one of the members and important partners of PATA. Therefore, Ms. Weihan Xu hopes that in the coming time, the two sides will strengthen tourism cooperation, discuss future development plans, continue to implement tourism projects...

At the meeting, Ms. Weihan Xu shared information and data on the situation of international tourists to Asia in recent years, and forecasted the number of international tourists to the region in the next 3 years.

Sharing research on the tourism situation in Vietnam, PATA's Senior Manager of Partnership Development assessed that Vietnam is a very potential destination and one of the countries with the fastest recovery and development rate. In 2024, Vietnam welcomed 17.6 million international visitors, almost reaching the number before the Covid-19 pandemic. It is forecasted that in 2025, the number of international visitors to Vietnam will certainly surpass the pre-pandemic level in 2019 and will increase year by year.

Representatives of the Pacific Asia Travel Association also shared about upcoming PATA events and opportunities to participate in these events. Along with that is the Tourism Destination Program aiming to build a more sustainable tourism industry, with better resilience to respond to possible crises in the future. PATA also proposed that Vietnam host the PATA Travel Mart International Tourism Fair and the PATA Annual Summit in 2026.

Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu highly appreciated the research and initiatives of PATA for Vietnam. Deputy Director Ha Van Sieu affirmed that Vietnam is a country with diverse resources, dynamic development, along with open mechanisms and policies, promoting the rights and interests of the people. In particular, for the tourism industry, recently, the Vietnamese Government has issued new, open visa policies to facilitate international tourists when coming to Vietnam, including the policy of granting e-visas to citizens of all countries and visa exemption for citizens of some countries, extending the temporary stay period to 45 days. In 2025, Vietnam sets an ambitious target with a GDP growth rate of 8% and reaching double digits for the period 2026 - 2030. The tourism industry also aims to welcome about 22 - 23 million international tourists in 2025.

Vietnam is a leading tourist destination, a rising star on the tourism map of the Asia-Pacific region. Vietnam is a country with immense tourism potential, a long history, a long-standing culture with strong identity, beautiful natural scenery, charming beaches, friendly and hospitable people...

Recognizing and appreciating PATA's initiative and proposal on organizing the PATA Travel Mart International Tourism Fair and the PATA Annual Summit in Vietnam in 2026, the leaders of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism affirmed that this is an opportunity for Vietnam and PATA to strengthen bilateral cooperation, at the same time, it is an opportunity to promote tourism, and an opportunity for international partners, businesses, sellers and buyers to exchange, connect, discuss and cooperate. Deputy Director Ha Van Sieu also said that he will report to the competent authority and will have specific discussions with PATA in the near future.
