Many proud milestones

On the morning of August 14, Lao Dong Newspaper held a celebration of the 95th anniversary of the publication of its first issue (August 14, 1929 - August 14, 2024).

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Vice Chairman of the Central Emulation and Reward Council; Nguyen Manh Hung, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Minister of Information and Communications; Nguyen Thanh Nghi, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Construction; Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Nguyen Hoang Anh, member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises.

Also attending the ceremony were: Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Huynh Thanh Xuan, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Dao Minh Tu, Permanent Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam; Do Xuan Tuyen, Deputy Minister of Health; Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Nguyen Duc Chi, Deputy Minister of Finance; Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Dao Viet Anh, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Social Security.

Speaking at the ceremony, Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Newspaper Nguyen Ngoc Hien reviewed the establishment and development process of Lao Dong Newspaper.

95 years ago, in a small house in Thong Phong alley (Hanoi), leader Nguyen Duc Canh and his comrades published a newspaper called Lao Dong - the mouthpiece of the Red General Confederation of Labor, now the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Right from the beginning, Lao Dong Newspaper affirmed its identity as the newspaper of the Party, of the Trade Union organization, the newspaper of the working class and laborers.

The Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Newspaper affirmed that, regardless of the war years or the period of the country's renovation, especially the period of deep integration with the world, Lao Dong Newspaper has always been at the forefront of propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's legal policies; is the voice of the working class and tens of millions of union members and workers nationwide, contributing to encouraging and promoting the patriotic emulation movement. Not only that, Lao Dong has always been the number one newspaper in protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers.

In the era of Industry 4.0, in addition to regularly publishing printed issues, the Lao Dong e-newspaper has millions of daily visits; multimedia communication is promoted, creating many new, modern and effective communication methods to union members, workers, and readers domestically and internationally. This has affirmed the stature of the newspaper in the overall development of the country; contributing to defining the position of the Vietnamese trade union organization in the political and social system.

Over the past 95 years, Lao Dong has achieved very proud milestones: 1 time awarded the title of Hero of Labor, 2 times awarded the First Class Independence Medal; 3 times awarded the First Class Labor Medal; many Certificates of Merit from ministries, branches, provinces and cities, hundreds of domestic and international press awards. Lao Dong Newspaper has also received the love and trust of readers; the trust and companionship of many agencies, units, businesses...

According to comrade Nguyen Ngoc Hien, to achieve these results, in addition to the efforts of many generations of cadres, reporters and workers, the Newspaper also received the attention of the Party and State leaders, especially the attention and direction of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the leaders of the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists Association and leaders of other ministries and branches.

"Proud of the past and ready to look forward to the future, the cadres, reporters, and employees of Lao Dong newspaper today are filled with honor and pride, but also realize a great responsibility. The collective of Lao Dong newspaper is willing to continue writing the glorious pages of 95 years of history, looking forward to the future, with the steadfast goal of being the number 1 newspaper in protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers" - Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Hien emphasized.

Effective bridge between the Party, State, Trade Union organizations and workers

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor affirmed that, throughout the past journey, despite experiencing many difficulties and challenges, in any circumstances, the collective of cadres, reporters and editors of the Newspaper have always been united, unanimous, determined to overcome difficulties and challenges, and strive to successfully complete assigned tasks.

"The Lao Dong Newspaper has become an effective bridge between the Party, the State, the Trade Union and the workers, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc, encouraging and motivating the working class to enthusiastically compete in labor production, building an increasingly prosperous country" - comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang assessed.

At the ceremony, authorized by the President, Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Vice President of the Central Emulation and Reward Council, awarded the First Class Labor Medal (for the third time) to the collective of Lao Dong Newspaper; awarded the Second Class Labor Medal of the President to Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Hien, member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Newspaper for his outstanding achievements in work from 2019 to 2023, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

The collective and many individuals of Lao Dong Newspaper received Certificates of Merit and commemorative medals from Central Ministries, Departments, and the Vietnam Journalists Association.

Delegates witnessed the launch of the English version of the Lao Dong Newspaper translated by Open AI technology. This is a combination of ideas between the Department of Foreign Information (Ministry of Information and Communications) and Lao Dong Newspaper.

According to the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang, this is an important event, affirming the progress of the Newspaper in promptly meeting the external communication requirements of the Trade Union organization, being an official information channel contributing to bringing the image of the Vietnam Trade Union to international friends so that the world can correctly and more deeply understand the policies and guidelines of the Party and State towards workers and Trade Union organizations.
