On the afternoon of June 16, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue met with press agencies and veteran journalists to celebrate the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2023).
Congressional innovation is great material for journalism
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and leaders of the National Assembly and the Vietnam Journalists Association at a press meeting on the afternoon of June 16.
Reporting at the meeting, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh affirmed that in all circumstances, the majority of members and journalists always stick to reality, actively propagate the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; actively participate in the work of building a clean and strong Party and political system, fighting against corruption and negativity; refuting the distorted views and arguments of hostile forces and disgruntled opportunists, protecting the Party's ideological foundation; consolidating and strengthening the great national unity bloc.
Mr. Minh affirmed that the Journalists Association at all levels will continue to focus on political and ideological education so that the majority of members and journalists will deeply understand their role as pioneering revolutionary soldiers on the ideological and cultural front of the Party, enhance the political capacity of journalists and members of the Vietnam Journalists Association; continue to closely follow the development goals according to the orientation determined by the 13th National Party Congress: "Building a professional, humane and modern press and media".
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper Dang Thi Phuong Thao affirmed that over the past time, the activities of the National Assembly have been constantly innovated, promoted effectively, and contributed to the overall success of the country's development. Parliamentary activities are vibrant and increasingly open. Reporters are given many favorable conditions during their work.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief Dang Thi Phuong Thao affirmed that reporting on the activities of the National Assembly is considered by Thanh Nien Newspaper to be an important and priority political task. As a newspaper with a large circulation and access, the exciting information at the National Assembly posted on Thanh Nien Newspaper's channels in recent times has always received the attention of a large number of readers nationwide.
Regarding recommendations, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Dang Thi Phuong Thao suggested that the National Assembly, especially the Ethnic Council, committees and agencies of the National Assembly, be more open and create more favorable conditions for the press to not only provide information but also help the press understand more deeply the activities of the National Assembly. At the same time, the National Assembly should soon organize training courses on reporting on the parliament for reporters and vice versa, train National Assembly deputies on providing information and answering the press...
Many opinions at the meeting reiterated the extremely important message of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue at the beginning of the 15th National Assembly term: "We must bring life into the parliament" and believed that the innovations, drastic actions, and unprecedented decisions of the National Assembly to meet the requirements of real life are extremely wonderful materials to form excellent journalistic works, including works that were awarded at the first Dien Hong Award recently.

Speaking at the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue stated that our Party and State always affirm that the press is a particularly important field in ideological work, a sharp means and weapon to propagate, encourage, motivate, gather, organize and mobilize people to implement the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's policies and laws.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the National Assembly always gives priority to perfecting the institutions and policies for the fields of information, communication and press. Currently, the Government and the agencies of the National Assembly are reviewing the Press Law and the legal system to amend all laws, creating a favorable legal foundation for press development.
The National Assembly Chairman asked those working in press management, the Vietnam Journalists Association, leaders of press agencies, and journalists to think together and answer the question: What should the press continue to do and how to do it to maintain its position and mission as one of the important factors contributing to the creation and innovation of the Vietnamese socialist rule-of-law state in line with the peaceful and humane development trend of the times?
The National Assembly Chairman requested that state management agencies on the press conduct comprehensive research, continue to innovate and perfect mechanisms and policies on press and information activities in the new period. In the immediate future, focus on studying and amending the Press Law to ensure its suitability and feasibility; propose amendments to regulations on taxes, fees and charges in accordance with the specific characteristics of each type of press activity and the development trend of the press economy.
The National Assembly Chairman also expressed his belief that in the coming time, the relationship between the National Assembly and press agencies will continue to be promoted and further strengthened.
According to the National Assembly Chairman, the urgent and long-term strategic task is to accelerate the speed of digital transformation of journalism according to the vision and roadmap associated with the digital economy, journalism and media economy, and to increase the application of artificial intelligence, big data, and new technologies in journalism and media activities in a comprehensive, synchronous, unified, and effective manner.
The National Assembly Chairman noted that leaders and managers of the press system continue to improve their political capacity, sense of responsibility, and management skills; pay more attention to improving the quality of reporters and editors in terms of politics, ideology, professional qualifications, expertise, and professional ethics.
The National Assembly Chairman expressed his hope that the entire team of journalists will continue to fully and deeply grasp the viewpoint that the press is a sharp weapon, an effective tool of the Party, the voice of the State and a large and strong forum of the people on the ideological, political and cultural front; contribute to the fight to eliminate the wrong and the bad, protect the right and the good, for the common cause of the country and the people; disseminate good experiences, good lessons, praise, honor and spread, multiply new factors and advanced models.
The National Assembly Chairman also expressed his belief that in the coming time, the two-way relationship between the National Assembly and press agencies will continue to be promoted and further strengthened.
