Assessing the role of the social sciences and humanities group, Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, Permanent Deputy Director of Duy Tan University, stated that this group of majors is directly related to the movement of society, of the past, present, future and is directly related to people, helping society develop in a balanced way.

"The explosion of technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), is changing everything, including the fields of social sciences and humanities and pedagogy. The application of AI in the work process is becoming more and more popular, so it is predicted that some occupations in this field will have a shrinking workforce. However, this only affects work efficiency and cannot replace the role of humans," Dr. Hai assessed.

Sharing the same view, Master Do Hong Quan, Deputy Head of the Department of Sociology, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, also said that along with economics, social sciences such as sociology, psychology, history, psychology... are the pillars of a country's development.

Master Quan analyzed: "We are living in a developed society but every day we have to face many problems such as cultural deviation, inequality, conflicts between traditional and modern values, or awareness of national and ethnic history, broken connections with the surrounding environment... All of these must be studied and solved by those studying and working in the field of social sciences and humanities."

Because of that important role, according to Dr. Hai, the social science group in recent years has had a very large number of candidates applying and is in the top 5 groups of professions with the highest admission rates. "In addition, pedagogy is also an important group, students studying there are supported by the state with tuition and living expenses, so it is very attractive to candidates and the benchmark is also very high," Dr. Hai added.

INTEGRATED TRAINING, TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION

Talking about the impact of technology on jobs in the fields of social sciences, humanities and pedagogy, Master Truong Thi Ngoc Bich, Director of the Communication Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, affirmed: "We should not be afraid of technology replacing us, but only be afraid of people who are good at technology replacing us."

To help graduates have enough capacity to compete in the labor market, school training programs must integrate technology, technology applications, especially artificial intelligence, because people who do not know about technology will be replaced by people who know about technology.

Master Do Hong Quan affirmed that the trend of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary training is a requirement in the training program to help learners increase their competitive advantage. "Learners must also increase their competitiveness by supplementing related knowledge blocks. In addition, graduates must have digital capacity to survive, think and work effectively. In the near future, digital capacity will be the output standard in training programs," said Master Quan.

Master Truong Quang Tri said that social sciences and humanities and pedagogy not only provide specialized knowledge but also contribute to creating thinking, ethics and life skills for learners.

"In the context of the fields of professions always being updated and developed, in addition to traditional fields such as primary education, preschool education, foreign languages, history, literature... this group of fields has appeared some trending fields such as psychology, communication, language... Career opportunities of this group of fields are also very diverse such as research, lecturer, editor, consultant...", Master Truong Quang Tri shared.

In addition, there are also majors in Thai language, Asia-Pacific, American studies, economic management, international trade law, human resource management...

Master Truong Thi Ngoc Bich informed that previously, psychology, communication, public relations, and languages ​​were mostly taught in public universities, but now non-public universities, including the University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City, have all trained and built programs to meet the needs of society, attracting a large number of students. Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is also enrolling and training in psychology, public relations, multimedia, law, human resource management, etc.

We should not fear technology replacing us, but only fear people who are good at technology replacing us.
