(Dan Tri) - Baby Gia Han in Ha Tinh has metastatic cancer of a rare cell type. Sympathizing with her situation, readers have helped the family with more than 200 million VND.
On the afternoon of February 7, Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Nguyen Duy Duc, Vice Chairman of Ha Tinh City People's Committee and leaders of the Party Committee and People's Committee of Thach Dai commune visited, encouraged and presented a plaque with the amount of 139,766,022 VND from readers' support through the Charity Program to the family of Hoang Gia Han (10 years old, residing in Lien Vinh village, Thach Dai commune, Ha Tinh city, Ha Tinh province).
This amount of money was transferred by Dan Tri newspaper to the personal account of Ms. Vo Thi Luyen (38 years old, Gia Han's mother).
In addition, Ms. Luyen's account also received nearly 64 million VND from direct support from readers. Thus, readers have helped Gia Han's family with more than 200 million VND.
Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan (38 years old, Gia Han's father) expressed his gratitude: "In the midst of our difficulties, Dan Tri newspaper connected readers and philanthropists to help us with a huge amount of money.
Thanks to that, we have more money to treat our daughter's illness. Thank you very much to our readers. We also hope that our daughter will soon recover and be able to go to school with her friends."
On behalf of the local government, Mr. Hoang Viet Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thach Dai commune, sent his sincere thanks to the editorial board, Dan Tri reporters and especially the newspaper's readers across the country for their concern and sharing with the difficult circumstances and people with serious illnesses in the area.
Baby Hoang Gia Han and her family are the characters in the article 10-year-old girl with cancer: "When will my child recover and go to school?".
In April 2023, when Gia Han was in 3rd grade, she showed unusual health symptoms. Luyen and her husband rushed to take her to the hospital for a check-up.
Although they were mentally prepared, the couple could not have imagined that their daughter would have kidney cancer at the age of 8. After being transferred to a hospital in Hanoi, Gia Han had surgery to remove the tumor and her left kidney.
In July 2024, the small family once again received bad news. Gia Han showed signs of loss of appetite, severe stomach pain, and declining health.
Doctors at Hue Central Hospital examined and discovered that the child had a recurrence of lymph nodes between the aorta and spleen.
3 months later, the doctor took a sample and sent it abroad for testing. The results showed that Gia Han had metastatic cancer of a rare cell type.
Mr. Tuan's family does not have their own house and is living with Gia Han's grandparents. Every time they take Gia Han to the hospital, they leave their eldest son, who is in 6th grade, with his 70-year-old grandparents.
After nearly 2 years of fighting cancer with their child, Mr. Tuan and his wife's savings have been exhausted.
