(QBĐT) - On the morning of April 12, in My Ha village, My Thuy commune (Le Thuy), the Commander and Veterans Liaison Committee of Division 341 (Military Region 4) solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 50th anniversary of Division 341's deployment to the battlefield.

The speech presented by the Standing Representative of the Liaison Committee of the 341st Division at the ceremony emphasized that the heroic 341st Division (Song Lam Division) was established on November 23, 1972 in Nam Dan district, Nghe An province. From December 1972 to November 23, 1975, the Division was stationed in Quang Binh province and Vinh Linh special zone, carrying out combat missions to protect the southern area of ​​Military Region 4, and was the strategic reserve force of the Ministry of National Defense .

On February 3, 1975, in My Thuy commune, Division 341 held a ceremony to send troops to the battlefield. The division assembled troops with more than 12,000 officers and soldiers along with weapons and technical equipment; nearly 1,000 vehicles of all kinds marched to the battlefield in the Southeast region.

In the formation of the 4th Corps, the 341st Division directly participated in many major battles, liberating Chon Thanh, Xuan Loc, Trang Bom...; together with 5 troops entering Saigon (April 30, 1975) to liberate the South. After that, the Division was tasked with military management and protection of Ho Chi Minh City and was praised by General Vo Nguyen Giap as "Entering the citadel as solid as a fortress"...

During the years of fighting to liberate the South, protect the southwestern border of the Fatherland and carry out international missions in Cambodia, Division 341 had more than 6,000 martyrs who heroically sacrificed; nearly 10,000 wounded and sick soldiers...

With glorious achievements in the resistance war against the US to save the country and protect the Fatherland, Division 341 was honored to be twice awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State along with many noble medals...

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Hai Chau emphasized that during the time stationed in Quang Binh and Vinh Linh military zone, officers and soldiers of Division 341 not only organized combat readiness training but also actively participated in building strategic roads, healing war wounds, doing a good job of mass mobilization work, and closely attached to the local government and people. Quang Binh, despite many difficulties, "struggling under bombs and bullets", still devoted all their love to the army, giving up their houses to make barracks, mobilizing tens of thousands of working days, hundreds of thousands of bamboo trees and wood to build fortifications and battlefields...
