Information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that Vietnam Sea and Islands Week in response to World Oceans Day 2025 with the theme "Magical Ocean: Preserving the source of life for humanity" will be organized and responded to nationwide, from June 1-8.
National level activities are scheduled to be held in Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province, focusing on June 6-7.
The launching ceremony of the Vietnam National Sea and Islands Week in response to World Oceans Day is scheduled to be held on June 7 in Dong Hoi, with the participation of representatives of ministries, sectors, localities and international organizations.
The theme of Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2025 was proposed by the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Communication in coordination with the Vietnam Sea and Islands Administration (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) as "Green technology for sustainable ocean" to affirm Vietnam's commitment to developing the marine economy in parallel with protecting marine resources and environment.
This is also an activity to implement the Strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045; National marine spatial planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; the Party and State's policies and guidelines on science, technology and innovation development to bring our country to prosperity and strength in the new era - the era of national development.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Toan, Director of the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands, said that in addition to the above activities, within the framework of the event, there will be 2 important workshops, including: Workshop "Sharing experiences in developing offshore wind power in Vietnam" to exchange strategies, policies, legal frameworks and international experiences in the field of offshore wind power - a field that is expected to become a spearhead in the blue ocean energy transition.
Along with that is the workshop "Green technology for sustainable ocean" to exchange high-tech investment solutions in developing marine economic sectors such as: Green logistics, marine energy, high-tech marine farming, sustainable aquaculture; innovation, development of marine science and technology; training of marine human resources to serve the development of green and sustainable marine economy; models, solutions, initiatives that have been and are being applied in localities and enterprises in developing the marine economy in a green and sustainable direction.
