>>> Science discovers 2 ages at which people age the fastest
Specialist Doctor 2 Huynh Tan Vu, Day Treatment Unit, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City - Facility 3, said that diet contributes to determining skin age, because skin cells need to be provided with healthy nutrients.
"The best way to improve skin condition and help your face stay young longer is to maintain a balanced, healthy diet. You need to increase your consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables, and limit processed foods. Maintain the habit of drinking a glass of fresh fruit or vegetable juice every day, and you will feel the difference in your skin," Dr. Vu shared.
The quality of the food you eat shows up on your skin. Processed foods are often low in fiber but high in saturated fat, unclear additives, and refined sugars, which are not good for your health.
"In addition to saturated fats, consuming too much salt, alcohol, etc. will harm the skin and accelerate the aging process. We may not need to completely eliminate these foods from our diet, but we should limit their consumption," Dr. Vu noted.
Eat a lot of salt
A diet that is too salty is not good for your health and your skin. Salt is present in most foods, including sweet foods. For example, a biscuit also contains salt. Adding too much salt to your diet overloads the kidneys, weakening their ability to filter impurities in the blood, increasing the accumulation of bags under the eyes and skin.
Add more sugar to your diet
Refined sugar or sucrose and simple sugars such as glucose, maltose, dextrose are found in many processed foods. Excessive sugar intake has been linked to skin conditions such as acne, rough skin and reduced immunity. Excessive consumption can affect the glucose regulation system, leading to a problem called protein glycation which is thought to be a major cause of age-related skin damage and aging.
Diet lacking in vitamins from vegetables
According to Dr. Vu, to have healthy skin and a youthful body, you need to eat a varied diet, supplementing vitamins and minerals through a diet rich in vegetables and fruits. Vitamins that help restore and regenerate the skin and prevent aging include vitamins A, C, E, B2, B3, B6... and minerals such as copper, selenium...
Not drinking enough water
Water plays an important role in the body's vital functions. The majority of the body is made up of water, but this water is constantly lost through breathing, sweating, and urination. Dehydration can make us feel sluggish, lethargic, tired, etc. The skin dries out faster and becomes prone to premature wrinkles. Ideally, you should drink 1.5-2 liters of water per day. This not only helps replace lost fluids, but also helps the kidneys eliminate toxins from the urinary system. When you drink enough water, your skin will be brighter and reduce dark circles around the eyes.
Drink a lot of alcohol and beer
A moderate amount of alcohol each day, such as a small glass of red wine, is considered good for health because it is believed to have a protective effect on the heart and cardiovascular system. However, excess alcohol will have a negative effect on the skin and the aging process. Consuming alcohol and beer makes the body susceptible to dehydration through sweating and urination, reducing the necessary moisture of the tissues, thereby accelerating the aging process of the skin.
