According to PhoneArena , iPhone users will have to wait longer than expected to experience groundbreaking artificial intelligence (AI) improvements for virtual assistant Siri. Apple has just officially confirmed that it will delay the launch of some important Apple Intelligence features to 2026, instead of 2025 as originally planned.
Apple's 'cross-app' AI feature is in trouble
The delayed features are among Siri's most anticipated improvements, allowing the virtual assistant to:
- Better understanding of context: Siri will recognize a user's personal information, not just within an app, but across the entire Apple ecosystem.
- 'Cross-app' actions: Users can ask Siri to perform tasks that involve multiple apps. For example, ask Siri to find flight information from an email, or find podcast recommendations from a friend's messages.

Apple said developing these features was more complex than expected, especially when it came to ensuring user security and privacy.
In an official statement, Apple admitted: "It will take longer than we thought to deliver these features... We expect to roll them out over the next year." The company also highlighted recent efforts to improve Siri, such as more natural conversational capabilities, ChatGPT integration, and new features like 'Type to Siri'.
The delay is believed to be related to Apple building a new cloud computing system, using its own chips, to securely and privately process AI data, a key part of the company's Apple Intelligence strategy.
Previously, Bloomberg technology expert Mark Gurman predicted this possible delay, related to technical issues in the development of iOS 18.4 and iOS 18.5.
Although this information is disappointing for Apple fans, many people believe that the company's priority is to perfect the product and ensure user safety.
The question is whether Apple can overcome the technical challenges and launch these groundbreaking AI features on time. Competition in the AI field is fierce, and users are looking forward to new advances from the Cupertino tech giant.
