On the morning of August 19, the official welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, was solemnly held at the Great Hall of the People according to the highest protocol reserved for heads of state. General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife presided over the welcoming ceremony.

According to VNA, the motorcade carrying General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, entered the Great Hall of the People. General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife warmly welcomed General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife. The two sides introduced the officials present at the welcoming ceremony.

General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping invited General Secretary and President To Lam to step up to the podium. The military band played the national anthems of Vietnam and China, and a 21-gun salute was fired.

General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and General Secretary and President To Lam review the honor guard of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. The honor guard marches past the podium.

Then, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and General Secretary and President To Lam passed by the Military Band, waving to the children holding flags and flowers.

Next, the two General Secretaries, the Presidents and their wives took a group photo in front of the national and party flags of the two countries.

Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping led the high-ranking Chinese delegation and General Secretary and President To Lam led the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to hold talks.

Previously, at a meeting with Mr. Hoang Khon Minh, Politburo member and Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee on August 18, General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that his first State visit to China in his new position was to discuss with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and other key Chinese leaders measures to continue deepening and enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, meeting the interests of the people of the two countries, for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world. General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and gives top priority to developing relations with China.
