Not only that, OMODA & JAECOO also set an ambitious goal: to become a top 5 car brand in Vietnam within 4 short years (from 2024 to 2028). To realize this goal, OMODA & JAECOO have outlined a bold strategy: to open 20 international standard 3S dealerships in 2024.
So what makes the OMODA & JAECOO brand grow so quickly? And where does this brand come from?
The power behind the rapid development of OMODA & JAECOO is the Chinese Chery Group - the "giant" in China's automobile manufacturing industry. Chery was founded in 1997, is a multi-industry group and one of China's leading automobile manufacturers with the record of being the No. 1 automobile exporter in China for 22 consecutive years. Chery also made its mark as the first Chinese automobile manufacturer to enter the European market.
In 2023, Chery will record a total production of nearly 2 million vehicles, of which nearly 1 million will be exported, serving more than 14 million customers worldwide. The Group currently has 80,000 employees, 20,000 R&D experts, 5 R&D centers and more than 300 research and testing laboratories worldwide. Chery is committed to investing heavily in 13 core technologies, including vehicle platforms, intelligent driving and electrification. In addition to OMODA & JAECOO, Chery also owns a diverse portfolio of vehicle brands, from high-end to low-end, including Exceed, Chery, Icar and Jettour.
Strategic partnership with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR)
Another important factor driving Chery's growth is its joint venture with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), a renowned British multinational automaker specializing in luxury cars and SUVs. Established in 2012 and headquartered in Jiangsu Province, China, the joint venture has achieved success after 12 years of cooperation, opening up huge opportunities for Chery in the automotive industry, especially in the field of high-end electric vehicles. The cooperation with JLR has brought Chery great benefits in suspension design, while the high-end Land Rover cars have become a rich source of creative inspiration for Chery's designers.
In a recent interview, Chery chairman Yin Tongyao confirmed previous rumors that Jaguar Land Rover would use Chery's chassis platform. Specifically, Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and pure electric vehicles (BEV) will use the modular M3X and E0X chassis platforms that Chery is using for the Exlantix ET, Exlantix ES, Luxeed 7, Luxeed R7, Exeed RX, Chery Tiggo 9, etc.
The M3X chassis platform can be combined with Chery's DHT hybrid system, which consists of a gasoline engine combined with two electric motors through the 3DHT165 transmission. A few years ago, this was the world's first transmission to use two electric motors at the same time. The E0X platform uses 800V high-voltage charging technology, with an energy consumption of 12kWh/100km, and applies modern driving assistance technology. The E0X can also be equipped with an air suspension system, a high-end chassis platform suitable for pure electric vehicles and EREVs.
