On the afternoon of January 17, the Ho Chi Minh City Cinema Association held a program to summarize and honor the 2024 City Cinema Association Awards.
Speaking at the program, Ms. Duong Cam Thuy - President of Ho Chi Minh City Cinema Association reviewed some outstanding activities of the Association in the past year.
In terms of expertise, the association has supported investment for members who are authors of 9 scripts for feature films, documentaries, animations, research works, critical theories; supported and invested in 8 young authors who are university students majoring in culture and art to make short films and graduation films; made 2 documentaries to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. In particular, the association also coordinated with the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City to organize the first Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival.

In 2025, the association will organize many programs associated with activities to celebrate major national holidays, including the production of 2 documentaries about the achievements in building a civilized, modern, and humane city; organizing the 2nd City Short Film Festival...

At the program, in the award ceremony, the City Cinema Association decided to award 8 works in different genres, including: 1 feature film, 2 television series, 3 documentaries, 1 best television program, and 1 critical theory research work.
Feature Film category, the work " Moon of Childhood" (director - Meritorious Artist Ho Ngoc Xum, produced by Giai Phong Film Joint Stock Company) received the B prize.
The TV series category has 2 films awarded the C prize, including "The World in the Mirror" (director Nguyen Thai Huan, produced by Ho Chi Minh City Television Film Studio - TFS) and "Sisters of Different Mothers" (director - Meritorious Artist Nham Minh Hien, produced by M&T Pictures Joint Stock Company).

The documentary category has 3 awards, including 2 A awards for the films "Nguyen An Ninh - The Awakener of the Youth Generation" (director Thu Trang, produced by Giai Phong Film Joint Stock Company) and " Hoa van Tay Nguyen" (director - Meritorious Artist Le Duc Tien , produced by Giai Phong Film Joint Stock Company).
Documentary film “ 70 years of Geneva Agreement and the regrouping trains - Episode: Remember, why not remember!” (directed by Huynh Lam, produced by Ho Chi Minh City Television Film Studio - TFS) won the B prize.

The best television program category has 1 A prize for the television program celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Geneva Agreement and the 1954 assembly train - " Faith and Aspiration " (Director - People's Artist Le Thuy, Ho Chi Minh City Television - HTV).
The research work "Cinema as a technique" (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Thanh) received the B prize in the category of theoretical and critical research work .
At the program, Ho Chi Minh City Cinema Association also organized the admission of new members.
