According to Tuoi Tre Online's research, updated to the end of February 2025, Vietnam has 6 centers for testing yellow O in durian recognized by China.

The testing facilities qualified to test for gold O recognized by both countries are located in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City and Ca Mau. Specifically:

1. Center for Quality, Processing and Market Development Region 1 - address 51 Le Lai, Ngo Quyen District, Hai Phong City.

2. Center for Quality, Processing and Market Development of Region 4 - testing room address 271 To Ngoc Van, Linh Dong ward, Thu Duc city, Ho Chi Minh city. Head office 91 Hai Thuong Lan Ong, ward 10, district 5, Ho Chi Minh city.

3. Center for Quality, Processing and Market Development of Region 5 - address 57 Phan Ngoc Hien, Ward 6, Ca Mau.

4. Hoan Vu Science and Technology Joint Stock Company - laboratory address 59 - 65 To Hieu, Hiep Tan ward, Tan Phu district, Ho Chi Minh City. Head office at 169B Thich Quang Duc, ward 4, Phu Nhuan district, Ho Chi Minh City.

5. Northern Center for Plant Protection Drug Testing and Inspection - address 7A Le Van Hien, Duc Thang ward, Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi city.

6. Viet Tin Testing and Analysis Technology Co., Ltd. - testing room address: 39A, Street 4, Binh Tri Dong B Ward, Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City. Head office: 42 Tran Quang Khai, Tan Dinh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

Each of these testing centers has the capacity to test about 100 samples per day, still meeting the needs of people and durian exporting businesses.

To meet the demand for testing yellow O in durian in the coming time, relevant state management agencies and testing units and centers across the country are completing procedures to request additional recognition from China.

Vietnam's durian exports are in the most difficult period since China allowed official exports.

The reason is that since the beginning of January this year, China has required all durian shipments from exporting countries to have additional certificates of inspection for yellow O and cadmium (the inspection centers for these two substances must be recognized by China).

Along with that, your side also applies 100% inspection of shipments, if they meet the requirements, they will be cleared.

Strict and lengthy customs clearance procedures have caused the amount of durian exported to China to decrease sharply in the first two months of this year.

Currently, the durian growing area in Vietnam is nearly 170,000 hectares, with an expected harvest of about 1.5 million tons this year, concentrated from April to September.

If there are no urgent solutions to control cadmium and yellow O residues to increase exports, durian is at risk of "breaking out" when the main harvest season begins.

Chemical use must be controlled from the root.

To immediately adapt to the new regulations of the Chinese side, answering Tuoi Tre Online earlier, Mr. Hoang Trung - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) - said that he had directed specialized departments to coordinate with localities to immediately deploy models for managing food safety of agricultural products, especially the use of chemicals in growing areas and packaging facilities.

The Ministry requires specialized departments to closely coordinate with police agencies to strictly handle acts such as using fake plant quarantine certificates and falsifying test results to carry out customs clearance procedures.

At the same time, closely coordinate with the General Administration of Customs of China. If you detect any violations or warn any shipments, the Vietnamese side will immediately withdraw and stop exporting the violating codes to correct them.

"People and businesses must ensure that exported goods comply with the regulations and requirements of the importing market, especially absolutely not using banned chemicals or the maximum allowable residue level exceeding the threshold according to the regulations of the importing country.

The most fundamental solution is to have food safety control programs in gardens, growing areas, and at packaging, processing, and preservation facilities," Mr. Trung recommended.

In the long term, the ministry has directed units to coordinate with localities to inspect, evaluate, and identify causes and high risks for active ingredients that may have maximum residue levels exceeding the permissible threshold according to Chinese regulations.

At the same time, there are instructions on technical solutions for sustainable farming so that people and businesses can produce more systematically and responsibly.

In addition, the ministry is also directing the Plant Protection Department (now the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection) to develop and immediately implement a program to monitor residues of active ingredients for all fruit export areas and to control them at the root.

For example, in Tien Giang and Long An, all exported fruits have been inspected and controlled under this program at the source and guaranteed not to exceed the maximum residue level allowed by China.
