(CTTĐTBP) - On the morning of March 23, 2025, Binh Phuoc province solemnly held the ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Binh Phuoc Province Liberation Day (March 23, 1975 - March 23, 2025) and received the First Class Labor Medal.

The ceremony was held at 23/3 Square, Dong Xoai city.

Attending the ceremony were Politburo member and President Luong Cuong; former Presidents Nguyen Minh Triet and Truong Tan Sang; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former Standing member of the Secretariat Le Hong Anh; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha; and leaders of a number of central and local departments, ministries and branches.

50 years of steady progress

Reviewing the 50th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Binh Phuoc province, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ton Ngoc Hanh said: Throughout the history of the struggle to build and defend the country, the people of all ethnic groups in Binh Phuoc province have repeatedly stood up steadfastly and indomitably to fight against foreign invaders and protect their homeland. Binh Phuoc is where the Phu Rieng Do Party Cell was established - the first Communist Party Cell in the Southeast region; it is a place that strongly demonstrates the spirit of solidarity "The army and the people are like fish and water". The people of all ethnic groups in Binh Phuoc province have wholeheartedly followed the Party and the revolution, sharing the sweet and the bitter, so that the sound of pounding rice to feed the army in Bom Bo hamlet resonates to this day.

In each revolutionary period, on the beloved land of Binh Phuoc, there were outstanding and typical events and struggles, contributing to embellishing the heroic history of the nation. Typical examples include the Phuoc Long - Dong Xoai Campaign in 1965; the Nguyen Hue Campaign that created the "fiery summer" in 1972; the Route 14 - Phuoc Long Campaign in late 1974 and early 1975; the victory to liberate An Loc - the center of Binh Long province (now Binh Phuoc province) on March 23, 1975, creating conditions for our army to concentrate its forces to attack and liberate Saigon, completely completing the cause of national liberation and national reunification.

It has been half a century since the liberation of Binh Phuoc province. The sound of guns, bullets and bombs has receded, but the wounds of war are still lingering and smoldering, requiring the cooperation, solidarity and highest determination of the entire political system. Despite many difficulties, under the wise leadership and deep concern of the Central Executive Committee, the Party Committee, the government and the people of the province have united, promoted the revolutionary tradition, and achieved many important achievements in all fields.

In 2024, Binh Phuoc's economic scale will reach more than 115 trillion VND, 92 times higher than when the province was re-established in 1997. The average GRDP growth rate in the 2021-2025 period will reach 9.4% - a high level compared to the national average; foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction to date is approximately 5 billion USD; the urbanization rate is more than 41%. Average income per capita is more than 108 million VND; economic and social infrastructure is strengthened in a synchronous, modern and increasingly complete direction...

With great contributions throughout the resistance war, construction and development of the homeland and the country, Binh Phuoc province has been honored to receive many noble titles from the Party and the State. Especially on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the province's Liberation Day, the Party Committee, government, army and people of Binh Phuoc continued to be honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal.

Become a dynamically developing province

Speaking at the ceremony, proudly and emotionally recalling the years of hardship but bravery, fierceness but glory, President Luong Cuong emphasized: This is also an opportunity to look back at the strong development path of Binh Phuoc - a steadfast, indomitable land, rich in revolutionary and heroic traditions, which has been rising strongly over the past 50 years - from a fierce battlefield, heavily devastated by war and poverty in the past, it has now become a land full of vitality, dynamism and striving for integration.

President Luong Cuong emphasized that this is not only a victory, the result of a war, but also a symbol of the indomitable spirit, iron will and belief in victory of the army and people of Binh Phuoc and the army and people of the whole country.

Reviewing the heroic history of the years of struggle for national independence of the army and people of Binh Phuoc, the President affirmed that the An Loc-Binh Phuoc Victory was not only a victory of this land, but also had a very important strategic significance, opening wide the northwest gateway for the liberation army to advance straight into Saigon, preparing to open the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, contributing to the historic victory of Spring 1975, completely liberating the South, and unifying the country.

“After 50 years, we have a deeper understanding of the great significance and significance of the victory to liberate Binh Phuoc province. This is not only a victory, the result of a war, but also a symbol of the indomitable spirit, the iron will and the belief in victory of the army and people of Binh Phuoc and the army and people of the whole country, marking the victory of the 21-year long journey of resistance, the result of the efforts and blood of many generations of cadres, soldiers and people who died to gain freedom, to reunite the country…”, the President emphasized.

The President assessed that from a place that used to be a fierce battlefield, with a low starting point in terms of socio-economic development, Binh Phuoc has now become a dynamically developing province in the Southeast region. With the tradition of a heroic homeland, the will of self-reliance, self-improvement, and rising up in the face of hardship of the Party Committee, government and people, Binh Phuoc province has made comprehensive development in all aspects; the scale of the economy has increased 92 times compared to the time of liberation.

Not only achieving outstanding economic achievements, Binh Phuoc is also a bright spot in cultural and social development, people's lives are constantly improving. Per capita income increased sharply, the poverty rate decreased to nearly 1%, the health and education systems were invested synchronously. Digital transformation and administrative reform were strongly promoted. As a gathering place of 41 ethnic groups, Binh Phuoc always focuses on preserving traditional cultural values, while promoting the spirit of solidarity for mutual development.

The President affirmed: Binh Phuoc has not only risen to become a bright spot in socio-economic development, but is also a testament to the will and aspiration for continuous development of a land once devastated by war. The values ​​of peace, unity and development today are built from the great efforts, contributions and sacrifices of yesterday. That is the motivation for each child of Binh Phuoc to continue to rise, work hard, be creative, and join hands to build a prosperous, modern Binh Phuoc, worthy of the heroic tradition that generations of fathers and brothers have worked hard to build.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President warmly commended and congratulated the great achievements that the Party Committee, government, people of all ethnic groups and armed forces of Binh Phuoc province have achieved in solidarity, overcoming difficulties and challenges over the past 50 years.

The President said that the 50th anniversary of Binh Phuoc Liberation Day is an opportunity to review the heroic history, pay tribute to and honor the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives, compatriots, comrades and officers and soldiers who devoted and contributed to the cause of national liberation and reunification. Through that, every Vietnamese citizen today and tomorrow will be more deeply aware of their role and responsibility in the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland, continuing to write heroic history with new achievements.

The President suggested that Binh Phuoc continue to strongly promote its heroic tradition, along with the bravery, intelligence, will and determination, spirit and strength of the people, of the great national unity bloc, to join the whole country in entering a new era, an era of rising up, developing richly and prosperously for the beloved Vietnamese people.

On this occasion, Binh Phuoc province honored 50 outstanding Binh Phuoc citizens in various fields of social life.

Offering incense at Phu Rieng Do relic site

On the same day, the President and the Central delegation offered incense at the Phu Rieng Do National Historical Site (Thuan Phu Commune, Dong Phu District).

In a solemn and sacred atmosphere, the President and delegates observed a minute of silence to commemorate the heroic martyrs and express their deep gratitude for the great contributions of the outstanding and elite revolutionary soldiers.

“Phu Rieng Do” is where the Indochinese Communist Party cell was established on October 28, 1929, with 06 party members, led by comrade Nguyen Xuan Cu as cell secretary. Right from the first days of its establishment, the cell led the workers’ uprising movement to fight against the colonialists and their lackeys, fanning the flames of the struggle to liberate the working class in the rubber plantations that were suffering from misery and hardship. With those movements, the revolutionary spirit of the people rose up to fight and won one victory after another.

The President and the delegation also visited and presented gifts to veteran Nguyen Phuong My, a historical witness who directly fought and participated in the entire campaign to liberate Phuoc Long, Dong Xoai in 1975 (in Tan Dong ward, Dong Xoai city).
