The above projects are invested by the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board).

According to Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the Board, on December 30, the unit is expected to open traffic for 3 key projects including the HC1 underpass branch of the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection; the expansion of National Highway 50 and Phuoc Long Bridge.

HC1 underpass at Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection : This branch runs from Binh Chanh district to district 7, and construction is almost 100% complete. Currently, the Traffic Department and the contractor are actively speeding up the road restoration stages, and are expected to open the entire intersection to traffic on December 30.

Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection connects District 7 and Nha Be and Binh Chanh districts, is a hot spot for traffic congestion, a black spot for accidents in the southern alley of Ho Chi Minh City due to the large traffic volume.

In April 2020, Ho Chi Minh City implemented the project to build the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection phase 1 with an investment capital of VND 830 billion, expected to be completed in June 2022, but the progress was delayed many times due to the investor facing difficulties in construction conditions in an area with very high traffic density.

According to the design, the project will build a central circular island (60m in diameter) and 2 underpasses and branches on Nguyen Van Linh Street. The two underpasses on Nguyen Van Linh Street will go underground through the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection area, about 480m long (including the approach roads at both ends of the tunnel and the closed tunnel).

On October 4, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Department opened the first tunnel branch of this intersection, in the direction from District 7 to Binh Chanh District.

Phuoc Long Bridge: The project connecting Nha Be district with District 7 started construction in February 2020 with an investment capital of 398 billion VND. However, after completing some bridge piers, the project was suspended due to delay in handing over the site.

In July 2022, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council approved the adjustment of the project's investment capital, from VND398 billion to VND748 billion. The increase is mainly for compensation, site clearance and relocation of technical infrastructure, increasing from VND166 billion to VND515 billion.

The project is entering the final stage to be completed by the end of December. Once completed, the project is expected to help reduce the load on Phu Xuan 2 Bridge on Huynh Tan Phat Street, solving one of the four traffic jams in District 7 and Nha Be District, including: Kenh Te Bridge, Nguyen Huu Tho - Nguyen Van Linh intersection, Huynh Tan Phat - Bui Van Ba intersection and Phuoc Long Bridge, shortening the travel time from Nha Be District to District 7 and vice versa to 2 minutes.

National Highway 50: An important traffic axis connecting Ho Chi Minh City with several provinces in the Southwest region such as Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre...

At the end of 2022, the road expansion and upgrading project was started with a budget of nearly 1,500 billion VND. The starting point of the project intersects with Nguyen Van Linh Street, the end point borders Long An Province with a total length of 6.92km. The road cross-section is 34m wide (equivalent to 6 lanes) with a drainage system, sidewalks, trees, lighting and technical trenches.

Of the 6.92km route length, 4.36km is newly constructed (from the intersection with Nguyen Van Linh Street to the intersection with existing National Highway 50), and 2.56km is to expand the existing National Highway 50.

According to the Traffic Department, the unit will organize the first phase of traffic opening, from the section bordering Trinh Quang Nghi route to the existing National Highway 50 intersection, nearly 2 km long.

The remaining part of the route, although basically completed, still has land clearance problems in some locations, so it cannot be put into synchronous operation.

It is expected that in the first quarter of 2025, after the site clearance is completed, the entire project will be completed and put into synchronous operation.
