According to ArsTechnica , many YouTube users have complained that video loading performance on the online video sharing platform has become worse when ad blockers are enabled. It seems that YouTube is getting tougher in the fight against ad blockers.

Specifically, many users on Reddit said: YouTube seems to be intentionally slowing down its website when it detects users using ad blockers. They said they witnessed significant slowdowns in video loading, preview images, switching to full screen mode, and even scrolling.
In fact, Google has been accused of intentionally slowing down video loading if it detects an ad blocker. Google has even paused the video and prompted you to turn off the ad blocker.
YouTube is working to crack down on ad blockers, according to Christopher Lawton, YouTube's director of communications. YouTube confirmed that it has been doing so in select markets since June 2023 and is expanding globally.
