Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang has just sent a document to the Department of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requesting a review and inspection of airfares.

According to Minister Nguyen Van Thang, the recent increase in airfares of domestic airlines has directly affected people's travel needs, especially during peak periods such as the recent April 30 - May 1 holiday.

In order to strengthen State management, strictly control airfares, contribute to price stabilization, and ensure the harmony of socio-economic development goals in accordance with the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Transport requests the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to urgently review and inspect ticket sales, declare and post prices, and publicize and transparently disclose information on airfares of airlines.

In case of detecting any irregularities, the Department must promptly direct, rectify and immediately handle violations within its authority (if any). At the same time, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam shall organize inspections and checks on ticket sales, declaration and price posting of airlines, and absolutely not allow the situation of ticket price increases contrary to regulations.

The Minister requested the Department of Transport to proactively monitor and promptly advise the Ministry to direct agencies and units to strengthen the inspection of transport activities and passenger services, enhance solutions to best serve people's travel needs, stabilize ticket prices, and prevent illegal ticket price increases, especially during the upcoming summer peak season, on the principle of harmonizing the interests and rights of businesses and the needs of the people.

Minister Nguyen Van Thang requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and the Department of Transport to urgently implement and report the implementation results to the Ministry of Transport before May 10, 2024.
