Yen Son district (Tuyen Quang) has 22 ethnic groups living together, of which ethnic minorities account for more than 47% of the district's population, including Mong, Dao, Tay, Nung,... Therefore, the role of prestigious people is always given special attention and focus.
With a pioneering and exemplary role, a person with prestige is truly an important bridge between Party committees and authorities at all levels in propagating and mobilizing ethnic minorities to follow, follow, and comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and carry out local political tasks; actively participate in labor, production, socio-economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction; preserve and promote national cultural identity...
With 16 hamlets and 10 ethnic groups living together, of which the H'Mong people account for nearly 50% of the population, Hung Loi commune is one of the most remote and particularly difficult communes of Yen Son district.
Up to now, all villages have elected prestigious people, who are always exemplary in implementing and actively propagating and mobilizing ethnic minorities to comply with and implement the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws; participating with local authorities in grassroots mediation work, effectively resolving conflicts and disputes in the community, implementing a new civilized and frugal lifestyle, contributing to strengthening village solidarity, participating in poverty reduction movements, building new rural areas, and maintaining local security and order.
After nearly 20 years of participating in local social work, Mr. Lau Van Thao, a H'Mong ethnic group, was elected as Party cell secretary, a prestigious person in Na Tang village (Hung Loi commune, Yen Son). Regardless of day or night, rain or shine, Mr. Thao and commune officials went to each house and field to meet and talk closely with the people to propagate and mobilize them to practice a civilized lifestyle; join hands in building the new rural area; no early marriage, no incestuous marriage. Since 2022, Na Tang village has no more early marriage and incestuous marriage.
Sharing with Dai Doan Ket Newspaper reporter, Mr. Thao said: “Nearly 100% of Na Tang village is H'Mong ethnic group. A few years ago, people's lives were very difficult. Thanks to the investment and support policies of the State, especially from national target programs, people's living standards have improved a lot; there are no more hungry households in the village. As a prestigious person, I realize the responsibility to better propagate and mobilize people to implement the policies of the Party and State; not listen to bad people's propaganda; join hands to build the village more and more prosperous".
Ms. Tran Thi Binh Phuoc - Head of the Ethnic Affairs Department of Yen Son district said: “The government always attaches special importance to prestigious people. Prestigious people in villages are the core force that ethnic minorities trust and elect, tell people to do, and tell people to listen. Every year, from the central budget and local budget, the district's Ethnic Affairs Department visits, meets, and gives gifts to prestigious people on holidays and Tet to motivate them to continue to promote their capacity in social activities, mobilize people to well implement the Party and State's guidelines and policies; helping the process of building new rural areas to soon succeed".
Mr. Vang Seo Ve, Dong Trang village (Hung Loi commune, Yen Son) is respected by the people here as a prestigious person, the leader of the Protestant group. With a quick, active personality, easy to get along with everyone. For many years, Mr. Ve has been a shining example for the people here to put their trust in, to speak to the people to understand, to mobilize the people to listen. Therefore, for many years, Dong Trang village has not had early marriage or incestuous marriage; implemented a civilized lifestyle in funerals for the Mong ethnic group; preserved and promoted the good cultural identity of ethnic minorities, along with eliminating backward customs and practices, the people believe in the Party, do not listen to bad people; work hard in production, develop the family economy; join hands in building the new rural area.
Talking to the reporter of Dai Doan Ket Newspaper, Mr. Ve shared: "If you want people to believe and follow, you yourself must be a good example, sometimes you have to suffer a little loss; do not be afraid of difficulties, always be close to the people, understand the people, when people believe, doing anything is easy."
Mr. Do Ngoc Uoc, Vice Chairman of Hung Loi Commune People's Committee said: "The commune currently has 16 prestigious people in the hamlets. Prestigious people play a particularly important role, especially in hamlets with a large number of ethnic minorities. Prestigious people are very active, always taking the lead in all tasks entrusted by the government; if people trust and vote for them, they will certainly believe and listen."
In recent years, thanks to the effective implementation of ethnic policies, especially the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, the lives of people in Hung Loi commune have been gradually improved, the number of dilapidated temporary houses has been gradually reduced, replaced by spacious houses that ensure three solid foundations; there are no more backward customs in funerals and weddings. This achievement is thanks to prestigious people such as Mr. Thao, Mr. Ve... and cadres and party members in the commune mobilizing people to join hands to participate.
Mr. Trieu Minh Quang (74 years old), a prestigious person in Ngoi Ria village (Dao Vien commune, Yen Son) has participated in social work in the village and commune for nearly 20 years, and his two sons are currently Party cell secretaries and village chiefs in Dao Vien commune. Mr. Quang shared: “With the trust of the people and the responsibility assigned by the government, I realize that I must always be a role model in everything. If I do well, the people will listen and follow. My two sons are also taking on responsibilities in the village. Thanks to the Party, people have a more and more prosperous life; people trust and implement the Party's policies and guidelines, the State's laws and policies, and do not let bad people take advantage; security and order are stable”.
To promote the role of this special mass force, the Party Committee, the government, and socio-political organizations of Yen Son district have been paying attention to building a team of truly prestigious people who are exemplary and representative; a fulcrum connecting ethnic groups; a bridge between the Party's will and the people's hearts, creating the strength of great national unity; joining hands and unanimity to build Yen Son increasingly civilized and prosperous.
