Determined to ensure the progress of the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project

On the morning of March 28, the Ministry of Industry and Trade held an online conference to assess the progress of the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project. Comrade Nguyen Hong Dien - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Industry and Trade chaired the conference.

At Yen Bai bridge, attending the conference were comrade Ngo Hanh Phuc - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee, and leaders of relevant departments, branches and sectors.

The Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV Transmission Line Project has a total investment of over VND 7,410 billion, and is a national key project that has been approved by the Prime Minister for investment. The project has a total length of 229.5km, with a total of 468 pole foundation locations, passing through four provinces: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc, with the starting point being the Lao Cai 500kV station and the ending point being the Vinh Yen 500kV station. Up to now, the entire line has handed over 442/468 pole foundation locations, reaching 94.44%, with 26 foundation locations yet to be handed over, including: Yen Bai has 11 locations, Phu Tho has 13 locations and Vinh Phuc province has 2 locations.

For the corridor section, Power Project Management Board 1 (EVNMB1) has completed the measurement, planting and handing over markers to the locality for 242/242 anchor intervals. At the same time, the approval and handover of documents to the locality of Lao Cai, Phu Tho , Vinh Phuc provinces has been completed... As of March 27, the road opening work has been completed at 19.7%, the foundation excavation work under construction has reached 14.1%.


Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Hanh Phuc spoke at the Yen Bai province bridge.

In Yen Bai province, 162/173 column foundation locations have been handed over to the contractor, reaching 93.6%. The handover of the route corridor is still underway, with the measurement and marking of boundaries completed in 10/23 communes, while the remaining communes are waiting for document approval.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Ngo Hanh Phuc - Vice Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee pointed out the remaining difficulties, including site clearance affected by problems in handing over the route corridor, compensation policies and resettlement support.

To ensure the project's progress, Mr. Ngo Hanh Phuc requested the investor to speed up the measurement, verification and completion of legal documents for households that have not yet agreed on the compensation plan; increase direct dialogue between local authorities and people to resolve complaints. He also requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to consider supporting the province in allocating additional capital for site clearance and propose specific mechanisms to shorten the time to handle administrative procedures related to compensation and resettlement support; mobilize more human resources, vehicles and enhance coordination between units to speed up construction progress.

Concluding the conference, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien emphasized the importance of the project in enhancing the capacity of transmitting electricity from the Northwest region to the national grid. He requested relevant ministries, branches, localities and investors to coordinate closely to ensure the project is completed before September 2025 as planned.
