On March 26, Xuan Hinh shared photos of the Mother Goddess Museum - a unique space of thousands of square meters that he built. In the post, the artist said that the museum had just welcomed Evangelos Kotsioris, curator of architecture at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
Sharing about the meeting, Xuan Hinh wrote: "The conversation lasted all afternoon, the topics of contemporary architecture with traditional beliefs and folk art and culture were discussed enthusiastically."
In the post, Xuan Hinh also shared many other images of the unique space of the Mother Goddess Museum. The photos show the unique architecture with layered brick walls, harmonious green spaces and display corners bearing the imprint of traditional culture.
Artist Xuan Hinh’s Mother Goddess Museum is located in Hien Ninh, Soc Son, on the outskirts of Hanoi. The museum has not officially opened yet, only welcoming close friends and colleagues. According to Xuan Hinh, due to not having enough staff and his health not being as good as before, he cannot determine when it will be opened to the public.
Domus magazine ranked the Mother Goddess Museum among the 14 outstanding projects of 2023. Artist Xuan Hinh said he spent about 20 years preparing for this project, including 8 years collecting 5 million ancient roof tiles and 1 million ancient bricks from many households across the country.
The museum also has props from famous plays that Xuan Hinh performed for decades. The museum grounds have a library to preserve traditional cultural features, including books on hat van, hau dong, folk songs and proverbs, ca tru, etc.
Recently, artist Xuan Hinh caused a stir when participating in the MV North Bling (Bac Ninh) by Hoa Minzy with an impressive rap performance. This is a rare time he appears in a young artist's MV.
